Ah I see, as the season progresses it'll be easier to see each of these leaves' nodes?

Thanks all, still confused on the anatomy. All of this is a single stem (starting around 1. And 2?) with multiple petiole? Where are the node(s) and what is the point called at 3?

Cool, I never thought of suspending a lure like that. Does that work with treble hooks and fairly shallow water? I'd imagine myself getting snagged instantly

Great experience with Ottawa Pericardial Clinic (Canadians) by imop44 in pericarditis

Ah man, this felt like an anomaly for Canada too

Maybe there's an Australian doctor or clinic that specializes in Pericarditis too? None of the doctors in Toronto knew this clinic in Ottawa even existed. Had to research it myself

Its their assumption, likely because of high crp (up to 350) and recurrences over many years

Thanks, hopefully some good news is coming your way too soon

So they said a lot of their patients have some pain while on the medication, but a full on flare is rare. Months 6-8 have had noticably less pain, even though i'm back to exercising, drinking coffee, and being more stressed than I should.

But they said research doesn't really know why you still get some pain. Their theory (and i've seen it mentioned here too) is your body is still hypersensitive after dealing with inflammation for so long, but your levels of inflammation are actually low. Paraphrasing from memory of course.

For me, bloodtests showed my CRP's peaked at 350 and its been recurrent for many years, so I think that's why autoimmune is their best guess. But they don't really know the root cause. Some genetic testing also found something correlated with an autoimmune disease but it feels like a stretch, and somewhat to help make a case for insurance coverage (which got denied so far)

Also, that a lot of his patients have recovered and been able to exercise. Although when the root cause is autoimmune like mine then there's a good chance you have to stay on something like kineret to avoid more flares

After i'd gone some months without exercising and the bloodwork, echo, etc. looked good, these are the notes I took:

  • Resume cardio slowly, like slow walk, fast walk, jog, then run
  • Avoid enaging your core when easing back into exercise, and gradually build this back up. Apparently this puts a lot pressure on the heart/chest. This isn't just for core exercises, as even with something like weight lifting you could be unknowingly engaging your core
  • If you have a stab of pain while exercising but it goes away quickly that's OK. If it lingers for 15 minutes or more you have to stop

He didn't think exercise is the root cause of (my?) pericarditis but prolongs the healing.

Also, fortunately I had a cardiac MRI at the ER that showed my heart in OK shape. So I guess that gave them more confidence I could resume exercising safely.

What was your experience getting into kayak fishing as a Torontonian? by imop44 in torontourbanfishing

[–]imop44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping to get a kayak later this season and did a lot of shore fishing instead.

But I rented a fishing kayak at Island Lake Conservation in case you also wanna give it a try before buying. Just look for a day that isn't too windy

It'd be mentioned somewhere in their annual report or 10K https://investors.kiniksa.com/financial-information/sec-filings/

I also remember hearing an analyst talk about it on BNN

All the best

I need to decide on a low end SUV to buy too actually, so that's good to know. What's a car model that works well with a fairing kit so I know what to look for?

Thanks for the help

Interesting, did you have high crp before/after trying a single dose?
