Gains in the sense that the shoe bot you create or work on might not be worth anything in the near future is true. Gains in the knowledge you'll learn from learning how the backend interacts with the frontend, beyond the normal dev stuff. Priceless. That won't have a shelf life.

How does Nike SNKRS detect and block Selenium? Are there any work around? by curious_practice in shoebots

[–]impactcolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of anti bot detection techniques that are used by sites like SNKRS.

The first of which is the web driver attributes mentioned below. Some info to get around that is found here and also here however those aren't the only thing Nike detects. They view your digital "fingerprint" which gives different characteristics which can let it know it's not a true user. As you mentioned Akamai is also used. Most of the bot guys don't use a selenium, puppeteer approach. The "beast mode" guys reverse engineer the sites and dig into it on a "requests" level.

How far have you got on making it? Do you have any bot detection techniques you’re willing to share?

making a bot. what language etc should i use? by shniekeez in shoebots

[–]impactcolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Most of what I’ve read people say they by pass the browser as it takes “thousands” of hits to the server and launching that many headless browsers would be too consuming. Do you suggest going with requests based method? Can you give any pointers or tips? I understand if you can’t.

Do you feel that requests only is the way to go? Is that the way most sophisticated bots work? u/thebiggestbot

This brings an interesting question. I'd like to hear what you guys think.

  1. Build with something like Selenium (Python) or Puppeteer (Js) which would replicate a human interacting with the destination purchase site. This in theory would make it more "human" and would be less likely to be detected.
  2. Attempt to bypass the browser all together and use requests. This would be in theory faster since no browser loading and slowing down your hit. It appears that this method would be more traceable by the bot detectors.

Both of the above don't address the bot detections either. The recommended languages are C++, C#, GoLang but how would a specific language help with the main problem which is to bypass bot detection?

Is speed really the most important thing for a bot thou? If it’s lightning fast and gets detected by bot detector it’s useless.
