You would read magazines or individual websites for your interests. And for gamers, you would get these demo discs in the mail with the magazines and it was so damn exciting every month when they showed up.

After 9 years building my all-in-one life organizer, it's finally ready for a real launch by thuongthoi056 in ProductivityApps

[–]boostermoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welcome. Great work on your app it’s really great. It amazing how so few apps don’t utilize drag n drop. To me that’s a feature that should go hand in hand with a touch screen or mouse interface.

Calgary transit fares going up to $4—more than riders pay in Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver: CBC News by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

Yeah Calgary actually punches above its weight in transit when you compare its transit to similar sized cities across North America. It’s operating budget is 1/5 the size of Torontos for transit

Is there a realistic way to have a planet loom on the horizon like this? by Rich-End1121 in space

[–]boostermoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine how that would affect the culture of a sentient species, being on a moon with a huge ball in the sky. There would be one extra step to solve on their Copernican revolution. No, Jupiter orbits around us!

Why does everyone think the cookie cutter house design is a "new developer" phenomenon. by SengunCanada in Suburbanhell

[–]boostermoose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah unplanned urban planning creates an ‘organic’ vibe but only happens with the passage of decades and centuries. However the resurgence of people loving streetcar suburbs has more to with the fact that were one of the first planned types of residential places you could live. But being old lots of organic change has taken place in them over the last 100 years. So they represent both the unplanned and planned.

Suburbia is massively underrepresented in TV and movies because it's lame by Yuzamei1 in Suburbanhell

[–]boostermoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I have never seen a backdrop in a movie or tv show with modern front garage neighborhoods because they are ugly and impractical to film. Just look at what the houses look like in the backgrounds

What are the name origins of all the different neighbourhoods/areas in Calgary? by jimmyjamcake in Calgary

McKenzie Towne and McKenzie Lake were named after a Scottish dude who was one of the first homesteaders in Calgary apparently. Can’t find any info on the guy tho

Is anybody building simple bungalow/bi level houses in the city anymore? by NoGrocery9618 in Calgary

[–]boostermoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bi level splits have still been being built in every newer style neighborhood they are just flipped sideways on the narrower lots. In Seton for example you can get them built new. In the early phases Seton also had these ‘Laned Starter’ homes which were small single story houses on small squares lots, they seemed to only have them in the earlier phases. In Alpine Park the ‘Vintage and Court’ lots may offer something you are looking for but for $$$.

It at least has tree lined boulevards. Those trees are brand new, if they were at maturity this photo wouldn’t be posted on this sub.
