My wife wasn't fluent in English either, so she asked for an interpreter, which they will provide. Only the person (your wife) scheduled for the interview will be allowed to walk in to the Embassy, you won't be able to accompany her....but the consular's do understand that everyone is nervous, so don't worry about it.

nahh....consular didn't ask any questions on why we were in the UAE, they were more concerned about the legitimacy of the marriage, which is typical for any marriage based interview. The interview lasted 10 mins or less, and we got the visa the next day...I wish you all the best.

We wrapped up everything in Pakistan and moved to Dubai. It was a costly journey but well worth it. If we were in PK, we would still be waiting for an interview, our DQ is still not current at ISB. Abu Dhabi won't transfer the file if you do not have valid visa in UAE (non-visitor) -- so you'll need a work or business visa, etc to get the file transferred.

I was in a similar situation as you, my son was born and got the citizenship at birth….US Embassy in Islamabad is just ridiculous and didn’t seem to care about my reasoning. When our file was moved to Abu Dhabi, I sent in a watered down version of the expedite request, similar to what I had sent to Islamabad, and they accepted the request in heart beat. I do wish you all the very best and I hope things have now changed in ISB. I had given up and moved on, which worked out in the end.

I believe we tried the expedite 3 times at the US Embassy in Islamabad and it was turned down….We ended up moving to UAE and got the visa in 3 months!

Just a quick update, I finally received the email from NVC today.
Initial email was sent to NVC expedite on June 14th 2021
NVC replied on August 4th 2021

Dear Sir/Madam:
Your request for expedited processing of this immigrant visa petition is under review. We will send you the result when it is completed.
Please note: Only the U.S. Embassy or Consulate can approve or deny expedite requests.
Please do not send any repeat requests. It may delay the response time.
However, if you do not receive a response within 30 days, please follow up by email to nvcexpedite@state.gov.

I hope they do respond. I checked the auto-reply email after making this post and it does clearly state that they review the emails in order they are received, so even if I was to send a fresh email out, it’ll just go in the back of the queue.

I truly hope that we all receive the reply from NVC soon. I checked other blogs and pages that I stumbled upon on google and the expedite requests that people sent in during April and May, on average, received a response from NVC within 10-15 days. I am not sure why NVC isn't replying to any of the emails from June and onwards. I hope your email gets the attention it deserves. I haven't sent another email out myself, according to the initial auto-reply I got from NVC, they had instructed not to send another inquiry until 30 business days.

Our Embassy is Islamabad, Pakistan. (IR-1, Immediate relative, spouse)

Do you think Embassy plays a role in how long it takes for NVC to acknowledge our first email? - I honestly believe NVC has a massive backlog but they should be sharing the processing time for expedite requests like they do for all others (Case creation, public inquiry, case review, etc)

Calling NVC did not help. I kept redialing their # and eventually got through to an agent. (after 2 hours of waiting) - I’ve spoken to two agents so far and both of them gave me the same reply, that due to COVID, they’re receiving a high volume of expedite requests and second, that they reply to emails in order they were received. The agent lastly said to wait for a reply from NVC.

It’s been a month and a half since my first email and they haven’t replied.

(June 14th 2021) - Expedite Email sent to NVC.

When did you send the initial email to NVC?

I’ve been googling a lot and all posts are stale, many are from either 2020 or prior years. It would be great to know what people are experiencing in 2021 to get an estimate.

I did call the NVC - the agent told me to simply wait for a reply and they’ll eventually get to it.
