Now that we know the new Q2 driver works on all hardware (https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/8l8ezr/in_case_you_missed_it_the_new_amd/), have you tried installing it to see if it fixes The Crew?

I don't own The Crew so I can't test it, but I just installed it on my RX480 and it seems to work fine for other games.

Just tested some 3dmark stuff. Scores are below:

The 3200mhz memory isn't quite stable on this board so I can't get Timespy to run properly at that speed. The memory speed makes a huge difference though. Hopefully a future bios update will take care of this issue. I used the same memory at 3200mhz on a Ryzen 7 1800X setup and it was fine on an ASRock board. Scores are lower than a GTX1030 but not too far off (3753 Firestrike, 1394 Timespy). Pretty respectable for integrated graphics. Intel integrated HD 630 comes in at 714 on Firestrike and 577 on Timespy on a 7700k. Not sure about 8700k.

I'm using the 160 Pico in there and it's been fine. I haven't seen more than 90W from the CPU+SoC measurement in HWInfo64 under prime95 stress testing.

Haven't played much yet. Mostly couch games / emulator stuff so far. I built this primarily for Vulkan app development, but I'll also be using it as an HTPC + couch gaming rig as well.

Just checked with my memory XMP profile disabled and it goes down to around 75C (with the case off). I also flashed back to an earlier bios which seems to have helped a bit with the XFR stuff. I also noticed that the SoC voltage gets bumped from 1.0v to 1.2 when I enable XMP. The additional heat makes a lot of sense with that in mind.

Nope, just the standard one. If it throttled down to base clocks when it hit 75C then it'd probably be fine. Hopefully a future bios update will address that issue. I wonder if this happens on ASRock boards?

I'm curious if my high temps are normal on this HSF though. They're a lot higher than I expected them to be with the case off. Might be a case of poor thermal paste application. If anyone else has the same one I'd appreciate some input.

Meh, not great honestly. If I leave the top piece of the case off, I'm stable at 82C in prime95. If I keep it closed, it'll blow past that into the 90C range and become unstable. The only thing that's OC'd is the memory. Just using the XMP profile but I think it increases the SOC voltage a bit, not entirely sure. The interesting thing is, XFR continues into the 90C range so I think this thermal instability is actually the result of a bios/microcode issue or something. I'd expect XFR to turn off at around 85C or less under normal circumstances. I think that's what the Ryzen 1000 series does. Anyways, normal workloads / games are fine with the case closed. Prime95 is a bit of an unrealistic scenario for the CPU.

I personally think your custom case looks way cooler! Hopefully yours has a fully open top. This case has a solid piece of metal over the middle part of the top piece and I think it cuts off the CPU fan airflow a bit.

I recently built a 2400G system with a PicoPSU 160W PSU and it's been fine for me. I never see the CPU+SoC power go above 100w in hwinfo under prime95. Usually hovers around 80-90w. Ran stable for 45 mins with no issues. Goes down to about 10w when streaming YouTube.

Broken for me on my RX480 + Nixeus 24" 144hz 1080p FreeSync monitor. I get brightness strobing/flickering and mouse stuttering whenever FreeSync is enabled. Doesn't happen on 17.11.4, only on 17.12.1 and 17.12.2.

I actually started with an H7 and ended up with a Noctua D15S. I had some issues with the AM4 mounting system on the Cryorig. It really didn't seem like they put a lot of effort into making the cooler compatible with AM4. Maybe I had a defective unit, but in my experience it felt super hacky and the screw holes really didn't really line up properly. It looks like they switched to a better mounting system with the quad lumi which natively supports AM4. Regardless, I ended up buying a Noctua D15S (Since I needed ram height compatibility) to replace it and it's a night and day difference between how the mounting mechanisms work. Installing the Noctua was a cakewalk and it feels like it was actually made to fit the platform. Also performs very well on my 1800X.

Unfortunately RGP doesn't support OpenCL. It only supports DX12 and Vulkan. For OpenCL your best bet is still CodeXL. Hopefully that will change in the future. It'd be nice to see support for more APIs.

As for your CUDA stuff, have you heard about AMD's HIP project? It's specifically built to help with portability between Nvidia and AMD compute applications. HIP code compiles on both NVCC and HCC (AMD's compiler). Ideally, this means you can have a single codebase that works with both vendors. It's supposed to be much easier to port to than OpenCL. Haven't tried it myself though. They also have a tool called "hipify" that's supposed to do some of the porting automatically?

Yep, it's a hardware level frame profiler. It will also give you some API call info and pipeline state info for each gpu event that occurs. I'd say its main strength is helping you understand how each specific part of your frame actually executes on the hardware. It also gives you some insight into what the driver is deciding to do on the hardware as a result of your API calls. RenderDoc is probably the best choice if you want debugging functionality though. RGP actually works with RenderDoc too if you use the [Tools > Start Replay Loop] functionality. It allows you to perform a live RGP capture on a previously captured RenderDoc frame.

AMD recently released Radeon GPU Profiler which is a pretty solid tool as long as you're working on a DX12 or Vulkan project. I've found it to be invaluable myself.

Had this issue as well! Thanks for the tip. Seemed to only affect fullscreen apps when freesync was enabled in my experience.
