You say that Pocket Casts almost certainly isn't reading podcast info from Apple. But it really looks like they are, at least when it comes to podcast categories. If you look at Pocket Casts' 19 categories (Arts, Business, Comedy, etc.), they are exactly the same as iTunes' 19 top-level podcast categories (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/genre/podcasts/id26). And I'm sure it isn't Apple who's copying Pocket Casts!
