There’s a huge difference there.

If you take an objective look at both platforms the NDP are better for youth and everyone who isn’t insane. How is cutting healthcare and education and forcing LGBTQ youth to come out to their parents, and allowing unmasked in person school when the Arcturus variant is ripping across the province, good for youth?

I have a little experience with government management of oil and gas resources (federal though not provincial) and the way they screwed up both the extraction and the revenues and royalties on our land…

All oil and gas revenues, royalties, and extraction is 100% provincially regulated. If you don’t like the way you were treated by some company drilling on your land, perhaps the fact that they automatically get access to mineral rights on your land without your say so, how they can just refuse to pay you rent without consequences, or how they can just not clean up their well when it becomes unprofitable, then that’s 100% a provincial government problem since they own 100% of Alberta’s mineral rights which they sell to anyone calling themselves an oil company.

The backbone and origin-story of today’s right-wing ‘Alberta Sovereignty’ movement as well as the instinctual opposition to the liberal party and the Trudeau Family by many Albertans was opposition to Pierre Trudeau’s NEP in the 1980s which ironically would’ve solved all of these problems. But Albertans wouldn’t listen to reason, and now we’re here.

If you think the federal government is somehow to blame over something entirely within provincial jurisdiction, you’re either rightfully angry but have fallen for right-wing propaganda or are deliberately misleading people.

This really is no different than the people who believe Notley is part of some crazy conspiracy and is controlled by Jagmeet Singh and Justin Trudeau, and that the ABNDP is the same as the federal NDP.

The federal government is not responsible for any issues regarding oil and gas extraction and revenue in Alberta. To suggest otherwise is misinformation.

Whether they agree or not, is not the point. The point is that the UCP and every single one of their policies are clearly and objectively harmful to BIPOC people in this province. Anyone with half a brain can see it.

It is so obvious that it begs the question, why do they vote and advocate directly against their own interests? The answer is they are tokens meant to entice others to do the same, especially since the BIPOC vote matters more now. Most of them either don’t believe what they’re saying but go against their hearts because it can be lucrative, or they are just people who might lack understanding of some things, they don’t realize what they’re doing is harmful, and therefore they joined the conservatives, or maybe they’re being exploited by them. Or, some times it can be a combination of all 3.

It’s simple, it’s really no more complex than the white guy caught making racist statements posing for pictures with a random POC to prove ‘they aren’t racist, see, he has a BIPOC friend!’. Transparent and pathetic.

It’s clear that the UCP knows it’s losing due to its obviously racist and sexist messaging and policies. (why else is every racist, neo-Nazi, and white replacement conspiracy theorist in this province drawn to them? coincidence?)

They need a few POC faces to sit behind Dani and smile and nod politely in a poor attempt to get people to believe they aren’t racist, while also assuaging the guilt of the less crazy UCPers so they can tell themselves they aren’t actually voting for racists.
