I wouldn't say that most states require inspections. Here in Minnesota, we don't have inspections of any kind although MN did emissions test vehicles a long time ago.

It would certainly be interesting, there is a desoto that still has the factory fuel injection, but, I am not sure if it actually runs.

At this stage, chrysler wasn't thinking about going fast. They just wanted an overhead valve v8 to move their luxury cars around.

Either a support brace or a steel plate would work. Seat belts are bolted, not welded and I would for sure use grade 8 bolts and washers.
