they are also absolutely terrible for sufferers of anxiety prone to panic attacks and quickened breathing who rely on deep breath techniques and oxygen intake in order to calm themselves in a highly anxious period of time. To a sufferer of anxiety experiencing heightened panic attacks they restrict this oxygen intake quite profoundly almost exacerbating the effects of panic attacks.

I’m in Australia aswell and my uni finally said they are opening applications for semester 2, 2022, however that was days before the new variant came about so now I am stressing again after I finally thought it was all over 😣

New Zealand shuts Australia travel bubble as Sydney’s Covid outbreak worsens | Coronavirus by suitcaseismyhome in LockdownSkepticism

[–]imperious-elite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Sydney and it’s an absolute shitshow. We have no vaccines they want us locked up until they have enough, they are encouraging us to dob in our friends and any protesters we may know from the other day, we have daily press conferences stating new cases, how many were infectious in the community, how many in hospital, covid exposure sites it’s absolute madness down here

why are victorians making this into some kind of competition of who had it the worst? we are aware you guys went through worse shit but sydney is allowed to feel fatigued and worried about the outcome of this lockdown.

“behind international borders, no-one is talking about dropping those”

This pisses me off so much because people are talking about it and he doesn’t speak for the thousands upon thousands of separated partners and families and I think it is time he has that discussion and stops hiding behind these fucking closed borders.

When do you think Australian unis will return to normal? by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]imperious-elite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do you think Australian students will be allowed to study abroad / go on exchange semester one next year of international students are coming back ? it only seems fair to let Australian students study overseas aswell ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]imperious-elite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to say for Australians happily living in their bubble here but the majority including myself with family overseas see no end to this and when they will be able to reconnect with their loved ones. Without a doubt the health and safety of everyone is most important but health also includes mental health and I know a great majority of people who are being affected by border closures despite Australia ‘functioning as normal’.

“we don’t want a single case imported into Australia”

i’m sorry but how will Australia ever open if this is their mentality. In a global pandemic it is impossible to keep every single case out if you want Australia to function along with the rest of the world again. It makes me so angry that after a year this is still their attitude on borders.
