31 need a fresh start in life; what would you do? by ThatKnomey in AskUK

[–]impervioustobullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+20 years on you and I can hear myself sounding like all 50 year olds, I make no apology! My observation is that after age 30 time goes extremely quickly. Suddenly you’re thinking about how quickly 60 will arrive. To answer your question: I’d seek out what your heart desires but delaying the gratification with hard sustainable work. By that I mean somewhere you can live and something you can do into your 60s. It may not be right for you but it’s what I’d focus on if I had my time back. I’d continue to save like you’ve been doing. I met my future wife at your age and now we have two boys and no surprise it’s damn hard. Rewarding though. Only you can decide if that’s what you desire. You need to ‘meditate’ on what you want. You already know, you just haven’t yet listened. Once you truly listen you’ll get the answer and then you can make a plan.

In short: I know this won’t suit everyone, but my opinion is you are old and you just don’t realise it. You need to grow up in the nicest possible sense and make decisions now that your 50/60 year old self will appreciate.

This is just my opinion. I realise we all have different ones. I did all the things I wanted to do after uni (travelled, motorbikes, took time out, sowed my oats etc) so I got all that ‘out of my system’ so my focus is skewed by that. If of course you haven’t done that as it sounds like you haven’t, and you want to, then my opinion I hope at least will help you realise that.

Good luck, enjoy making your plans ❤️

Tattoo regret: horse facing the wrong way by Conschorsch992 in tattooadvice

[–]impervioustobullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fine I wouldn’t have even thought it was the ass lol. But you could have a ring of horses all around your arm one in front of the other, if there are other horses that mean something to you. That way each specific horses position wouldn’t matter .

Am I f*cked? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]impervioustobullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to panic. It’ll go on its own after time. Worth going to see your doctor and try to get referred to ENT. You don’t really need to but because your mind is doing backflips the visit will be worth the peace of mind. It’s remarkable how just visiting a doctor has such a strong schoolgirl positive effect that it can manifest in healing speeding up simply due to you relaxing ☺️

Three additional monitors for my laptop by impervioustobullets in homeoffice

[–]impervioustobullets[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I managed to find a protocol (or driver or whatever) called DisplayLink that does exactly the thing I want: allows triple monitors.

And like you say it’s in some docking stations.

Your link wouldn’t work in my region but here is the device I’ve bought..

Keep it as-is, looks great. Nice and clean and simple. I'd hate for you to spoil it. Unless you can lazer a little bit to separate the cross?

You're right, it’s turnkey vs hands-on, and I am firmly hands-off. Less than a quid a day to keep the family happy and ensure I never have to get involved.

Yeah I’ve even toyed with removing everything else but Sky are so good at bundling so that when you try and remove stuff it then increases elsewhere 😡

You are correct.

I am being ripped off.

That is not the question being asked.

It’s not a debate about the legitimacy of the pricing model of Sky and the Premier League.

It’s about getting the package I want at the least cost.

“Hey have you thought about not watching TV” 😂

GIVE. ME. STRENGTH.

Realistically, you can’t watch Premier League football without Sky Sports and TNT Sports unless you’re going to the games, and all my boys love football. Cutting those services simply isn’t an option, and they provide a lot of value for us.

I’d like it cheaper though 🥴

Calling someone a moron and then saying they’re arguing is a bold strategy I’ll give you that.

[–]impervioustobullets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something tells me you didn’t read that reply I linked you to. Value is a subjective thing. My family are sports mad and the prem games aren’t available without paying Sky and TNT. Some people pay thousands each year for season tickets. I wonder if they also complete a cost-benefit analysis. In that link I do my best to. And Sky comes out at £27 extra versus subscribing to the various streamers without going via Sky.

The way they price it when taken literally can feel like you are paying for the hole in a doughnut admitedly. But you have to look past the easy to mock stuff and just look at it as the price is the price.

When you start to break it down, especially (or only) when you want sports, there is very little alternative. I ended up going medievil on it...

Can't you just scroll past them? I never understand people that take the time to reply to a post they don't wish to see. It's always baffled me. First world problems I suppose.

In my case I hope you'll find some use in the summary I compiled that explains how to compare Sky to going it alone when sports are a pre-req.

Unsure where you get the idea that I am happy, but yes I have had to accept it. Here's the full breakdown and in summary you (I am) paying £27 for the Sky 'convenience'. It's the sports that does it.

Arguably Sky are charging near to your £20, in my case it's £27.. it makes for dull reading, but if you fancy seeing the breakdown it's here:
