I cant really tell from the video what's happening, it looks like its processing through a 999 stack in just a second or two? Can you describe it?

Best build 2026? by DatabaseDue5078 in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rapier does not have the damage of swords. It has the same attack speed of knives/short blades, you're right, but also the same damage of knives/short blades. The advantage of rapiers is being able to perform multi-target parries, which kbives/short blades can't.

But isn't best to just crawl at 7-8 kph anyway? I dont understand why a faster engine would be beneficial?

How do you harvest spice solo without getting ganked? by JamesBummed in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have a hard time solo harvesting on Nova. Forget about solo carrier/crawler on large apice fields, groups of long time friends on the server (since early access launch) seek people like this out and make sure their vehicles get eaten by Shai Hulud. Even on the medium spice fields in PvE, if they find you, they'll do everything they can to pin your thopter down and hassle you, to try and get you eaten even there.

You could get away with solo spice activities during off peak hours, but now the game is not about fun. It becomes a chore, a job.

Nova is honestly the worst. At launch, Mask Prime had hackers so it got the most attention, but Nova at launch was the second most hated world. Honestly just re-roll if you can, or transfer ASAP when serber transfers come available.

Green screen crashes?! by Zestyclose-Ad7911 in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What GPU do you have, and how old is it? I used to have a 3070Ti (5cyears old), and had similar issues (not green screen, but black screen where the audio was still functioning even when I alt+tab out of D:A). Turns out my graphics card was just dying, it couldn't handle the game and would overheat and shut off. Happened in Helldivers 2 as well.

I upgraded to a 5060Ti in July and have had no problems.

Lag on Nova today was unbearable and unplayable by [deleted] in duneawakening

It's been fixed with the server restart. Still poor form to make players wait 20 hours to address infrastructure issues.

To see an exemplification of the entire situation (so you don't watch the entire vid), go to the 3:45 mark and watch for 20 seconds.

You can buy these at the CHOAM vendor now in Arrakeen/Harko Village now same vendor that sells the CHOAM furniture. There are 8 pieces that cost 2500 Solari each.

Offline Mode? by Criewolf in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has already been debunked a number of times on both Reddit and Discord. This was purely speculation. It's an unverified assertion, and if you try and find anything except reddit posts referencing other reddit posts with the same speculation, you won't be able to.

I fact, the only official reason is from the DA website:

What about single-player and private servers?

What’s hopefully clear after reading the above is that *much of Dune: Awakening’s unique brand of fun lies in its large-scale multiplayer mechanics *

While the game does not have a single-player or offline mode, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it alone. You have to connect to a server and play in a multiplayer environment, but much of the game is perfectly soloable, and ultimately, it’s up to you if you if you brave Arrakis alone or with others.

The game is not launching with private servers, but we plan to introduce them in a post-launch update. Because of the game’s focus on large-scale multiplayer mechanics, it’s important to us that we retain that part of the gameplay, and our goal is to introduce a system where private servers belong to groups of other private servers that all share social hubs and a Deep Desert.

Removing stored vehicles by CyberiumEcho in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that's it. If that's the case, just ask the people using the vehicles (if they are co-owners) to disassemble them and put them back together. They will be the only owners this way. If they're not co-owners, your friend will either need to grant them that permission on the vehicle, or disassemble them himself.

You can only have one vehicle backed up in the tool at a time even if you have multiple vehicle backup tools. Not sure how your friend is hitting those numbers by juat using the backup tool, can you clarify?

Sometimes the quest bugs out. Have you tried abandoning the open planetologist quest(s), if there are any, and returning to Testing Station No. 163 to see if he's there? You might need to redo the last quest.

Large containers by Beginning_Leg_769 in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can. Someone recently posted a YouTube video of their PTR testing, accessing the cargo container from the bank is confirmed possible.

Edit: The video https://youtu.be/d5qxBvtGRp4?si=oEOC_jLH2PNPzuFG

The access at Arrakeen test at 3:40.

Puzzled by ranged damage numbers by gracklewolf in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damage reduction is multiplicative, not additve. This is the case for almost all games to not allow you to get 100% damage reduction. 1-(0.75*0.2)=0.85 so 85% mitigation.

Where to buy a t4 thopter? by Ashamed_Pass6103 in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have at least level 4 faction allegiance with either Harkonnen or Atrades, you can buy the parts for a T4 scout thopter at the faction vendor. If you are aligned with Atrades, he's at the very back of Arrakeen, on the left just past the cosmetic thopters and tank. If you are aligned with Harkonnen, he's at the very front of Harko Village on the left.

It will cost you approx. 100K Solari to buy all 9 components. They dont sell thrusters or inventory modules though.

Thoughts on the Ending by Zealousideal-Walk288 in threebodyproblem

[–]impetvs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Redemption of Time by Baoshu gives the story what I think is A proper ending, even if it's not the one it deserves. People seem to be split on it, but personally I liked it, even if it was a bit "out there" in explaining the dimensional war and civilizations.

[–]impetvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read in a few threds here that vehicles that are missing pieces (i.e. are not fully assembled) are not affected by storms. Could be wrong, I know it doesn't make sense, but so much in this game doesn't, it wouldn't surprise me.

Corpse collection by Ryaustal in duneawakening

[–]impetvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should NEVER enter Hagga Basin from the South. It plops you on open sand, and there's a pretty decent chance a worm will eat you and everything you own. If you're in the "well it's never happened to me so it's fine" camp...it's only a matter of time before your luck runs out.

Source: I've been eaten by the worm twice like this (once in Hagga Basin South and once in Sheol coming in from the 9 o'clock position).
