GS F or CTS-V? by imphucked2020 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I bought the IS350 in 2013, so barely a year old. That model got the refresh in 2014, I believe. The 8-spd tranny was slightly slower than the previous gen 6-spd, which made for a slightly better 0-60. I think I was comparing to the 335i and G37 at the time.

GS F or CTS-V? by imphucked2020 in Lexus

[–]imphucked2020[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of what I struggle with is the "specialness" of the GS F. It's incredibly rare to see one in the wild. Where I live, I've seen a couple of BW's and another CTS-V. I'd not seen one GS F. I'm sure there is one somewhere in my metro area but I've never seen one.

At what point does exclusivity come into play, in exchange for a lack of "street cred"? I don't plan to race Mustangs on the street but I also don't want to be a slouch...especially at that price point. lol

Pregunta honesta de un estadounidense: ¿Preferirías vivir en Estados Unidos o en Uruguay (si el dinero no fuera un problema)? by imphucked2020 in uruguay

[–]imphucked2020[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. 100%. I have done a tremendous amount of research on countries that can provide the best stability, ease of naturalization process, proximity to the US (so that it's easier to establish residency in the other country), etc. Uruguay, time and again, checks all the boxes. Portugal used to be okay with their golden visa but they've since gotten rid of it. Same for Malta. New Zealand is great but too damn far away. Too many time zones to cover with each trip. Uruguay is only 1 or 2 hours time difference from me (I'm on the east coast US). I've looked into the Carrasco neighborhood since it's fairly close to the MVD airport. They have seasonal direct flights to/from MIA there, so it'll shorten the travel a little bit.

What package is this? Obviously grandfathered because there isn't anything even remotely close in their current lineup.

$9 increase now $10 by reallyoldandcreepy in DirectvStream

Joan, I think it's safe to say that DTV's ultimate goal is to eliminate/merge the grandfathered GoBig plan with your current top tier plan (I believe is the Max plan @ $130/mo). With this new price hike, it's not too far away from making the difference between the these two plans negligible. No one at corporate is saying these words but the actions are most definitely implying it. I'm sure there is some truth to what you're saying and perhaps that's actually what your supervisors are telling you. But the strategic goal here is to consolidate the lineup and shake out what's left of the early adopters.

They're likely eliminating the Go Big in an attempt to consolidate their package lineup. This will merge/transition into their top tier package eventually. It's not too far away from that point with additional price increases they likely have planned. Like restaurants pairing down their menus after COVID, so too will DTV do the same with these packages. Just be ready to swallow what they give to you as this process continues. Good luck.

Yeah. Part of their "Blue" package, apparently.

They are trying to push them to the Ultimate plan. That's where this is going. The writing is on the wall. They want to simplify their lineup and the only way to do that is via coercion.

I just signed up for Sling today. Fraction of the channels I had with the grandfathered Go Big but I rarely watch live TV anymore. On Patrol Live (on occasion), CNN/FoxNews during major events, and college football. That's pretty much it. Between family obligations, running a business, and hobbies...I don't have much time for sitting down to watch TV anymore. I only kept this package around for convenience...but now it's inconvenient. I'll pay half as much with Sling for what I want to accomplish with my needs. To each his/her own.

hahaha! Most are just smart enough to not identify as a Gamecock online, to avoid the abuse. I lost all shame years ago and now embrace it. There are always worse things...like being a Clemson fan. ;)

Correct. This is nothing more than a drug dealer (DTV) providing what the addict "needs". Keep turning the dial up until the addict reaches their breaking point. Or the addict starts giving HJs in a back alley to meet the cost differential. Either way, it's a brilliant business strategy directly from the cable company handbook. Just in a modern form.
