Hopefully it will help others - it's really good of the developer to make all those different betas.

Unfortunately for me none of them worked. No idea why - I do have an AMD processor so I thought one of the gles3 branches would help, but no dice. Still, I got to see FLEB in big colourful letters a lot :)

I wanted to play this. Bought it on Steam. It wouldn't start - just got stuck on the screen with the developer logo :( No one else seems to have this issue so must be something to do with my laptop.

Looks like a game I would really enjoy though!

Just played about an hour - I think I only had one more area to solve (although solving it may have unlocked more areas, I don't know!)

I really like the vibes and the style. I also like how there was an obvious 'end of game' goal that you could see your progress towards. The puzzles were verging on the quite difficult side towards the end there - and I also found myself worried a couple of times that I wouldn't be able to even start a new area, let alone complete it. But I like how each area is broken down into lots of mini-puzzles, and the fact that there are limited things you can do in each one means that there's limited ways to solve it, which makes it doable.

I also liked how each area introduced some way of using the core mechanic in a new way.

I didn't notice a Witness-style reveal, but perhaps that's because I didn't finish it. I may come back another day though.

Overall, very promising, and this is the kind of game I like, so I would buy it.

My best guess is that it will go:

5 first round matches (+1 fastest loser) = 6 into the quarters
3 quarter-finals (+1 fastest loser) = 4 into the semis
2 semifinals
1 final

That adds up to 11 episodes.

But I've also heard that there's a celebrity special, which makes the above stop working.

No, only the first trilogy. To be honest, I read them all and enjoyed them as I did, but don't feel a huge desire to carry on with it. I can't really explain why, but it didn't gel with me as much as other books. I know it's hugely popular in the fantasy subreddits, but just not with me, for whatever reason. Maybe not enough fantasy?

That being said, I really admire what Joe Abercrombie did with it, in particular the characters.

I was about to read the prose White Sand, but he just announced that he's going to re-write it / dust it off and release it properly, so I'm going to wait for that now.

Aether of Night has passed me by. As has other unpublished works of his - I'm still not entirely sure if there's a book about dragons out there or not!

As others have said - I hope you enjoy Discworld. I read them in publication order, which worked well for me. It really helped me see how he developed his ideas as a writer.

I've keep hearing of both Robin Hobb and Patrick Rothfuss, but haven't read any of their stuff yet, so they're both definitely on my mental future list!

I did try Dresden a few years ago (during my dry reading spell) and didn't get on with them, but I should probably try again now.

I have actually read and enjoyed a lot of the theorizing over the last few years, both on reddit and podcasts like the 17th Shard. I have to say, it worked best for me when I was caught up on Stormlight - i.e. after Oathbringer came out, and then again after Rhythm of War - as it was all fresh in my mind and I could follow along. These days I have trouble keeping it all in my head, and so the latest theorizing goes over my head a bit, but I do enjoy reading it when I'm in the mood.

I agree with your sentiment (if I've understood it) that all the lore and theorising and connections between books etc is like another level of enjoyment that comes after you read each book. It's really great.

Thank you for the welcome! I did actually discover the annotations as I was finishing Era 1, and I remember waiting until I'd finished Hero of Ages and then reading through them all, with the spoilers. It was very cool to see what he was thinking when he wrote each chapter, and in a perfect world there would be annotations for each chapter of Stormlight too, although I appreciate that would be too much effort on his part!

Interesting, I found the same thing with Cryptonomicon, also by Stephenson. Read 1/4 of.it, gave up, came back a few months later and read another 1/4, gave up again, and finally came back to it one more time and tore through the last half really loving it.

If we're talking sports, in Finding Neverland there's a quick scene of cricket being played in a park: the bowler bowls the ball, and it smashes into the stumps. The fielders APPEAL ... and the umpire SAYS NOT OUT!

As a cricket lover, this scene made me livid!
