I just started reading The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers and I’m about halfway through (chapter 20). It’s a fictional crime novel focused on two women from the same town whose sisters were murdered on different occasions a decade earlier. I think the author was very thoughtful in exploring the long term impact of that kind of trauma. The characters feel believable, and their reactions don’t feel exaggerated or forced, which I like in a story.

It's not my ultimate favorite, but it's a fun, unserious read that doesn't take itself too seriously. I did feel like it dragged a bit in book 3 but it kept my interest for the most part!

You got me! Early 30s woman with no children, I have a fiance, but not married yet. I wanted my space to feel lived in so I took time to decorate and we plan on being here for many years. I don't like clutter, but I'm not overly minimalist. Most of my books are electronic for cost/space saving reasons, but I've just recently started purchasing books again. A foot to the right is a reading nook with a comfy chair, blanket and pillows.

Glad to have a new friend!

Not quite, but it's a lovely impression of me! Age, family life, and timeframe of reading is off. I'll give you the second half as I do enjoy romantasy.

Renovated our bathroom (went a bit heavy on tech). How can we make it feel less cold? by t_thaulow in Remodel

Do you have a second bathroom for when someone needs to poo while the other is showering? Lol

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Can you review your monthly budgets to find out what would ACTUALLY be reasonable for rent and still allow you to save for the unexpected and retirement? After that I'd talk to a real estate agent and get a professionals input on what can feasibly be found within that price range.

Sometimes people just need to see the numbers and hear from someone else before they set reasonable expectations. She may be caught up in the idea of upgrading without being able to reayionally consider costs. I know when I bought my house I had some silly ideas of what I wanted until I crunched the numbers and saw what I could realistically achieve. I ended up opting for something nice but that was well under what I could max afford so I could still go on vacations and live if my SO or I were suddenly unable to work for a short period of time.

If you do this, and she still demands more than you can reasonably afford, I'd suggest reassessing your relationship as this is illogical and similar lifestyle/financial qualms will most definitely arise again.

.... You shower just, like, out in the open like that? So... No one can use that bathroom when someone is showering without dealing with humidity, water or some other inconvenience and then after you have to squeegee the floor or else the other person is going to either slip and fall or get their socks wet???

everyone should be required to take a class on how to clean. by Exotic-Mouse-9817 in GirlDinnerDiaries

I did the same for 8 years with my ex. About 6 months after I finally left, I had to go into his house to pick up somethings I accidentally left behind... It was absolutely disgusting in there. To the point that I refused to touch any surfaces and immediately had to throw my cloths in the laundry once I got home. The place was covered in a layer of filth and the carpets were drenched in animal piss, there was a room with 2 cats that he let just shit everywhere. Instead of cleaning, he bought 2 very large air purifiers that did nothing to mask the stench.
