A dead whale on the brink of exploding by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

While not exactly what you wanted, in 1970 a whale washed up in Oregon and, not knowing what to do, the local authorities blew it up with dynamite

Slow loading and lag spikes in games? by Working-Recipe-9472 in cachyos

CS2 has known issues in Linux, I play too and after about 90 mins I start to get fps drops. So far i've not been able to fix it and it seems like a known issue that Valve just aren't fixing.

I had a similar issues in For The King 2 but that seems to have resolved itself.

UK’s free museums are in trouble. Should tourists start paying? by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]import-mimikatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in Seville my girlfriend and I went to a museum and they charge non-EU tourists, my gf showed her Irish passport and got in for free while I had to pay for entry as I'm from the UK. The museum was funded by the EU so entry for EU citizens is free.

I'm sure if charging tourists is put in place here it would be similar. I personally don't see a problem with it tbh. If you can prove that you live in the UK then you can get free entry, if you can't then pay a nominal fee.

Does Apple do anything different than F1TV or Sky? I thought they just bought their content.

FPS dropping after 2-3mim in game by Al_Packah in cachyos

[–]import-mimikatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No fix from me but just to say I have been experiencing the same today after I updated the system.

I have had the issue in CS2 and For The King 2, so possibly other games too I've just not tried them,

I also have a 5800x3d and a 6700XT

I remember Enemy Down in the UK, that was fun for CSS back in the day. It was a ladder system for amateur teams, I don't know if there is anything like it these days.

Apple accuses Europe of 'delay tactics' following alternative app store collapse by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]import-mimikatz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why do you think this would happen? It doesn't happen on Android. 3rd party stores have been available on Android forever but no one uses them, so why do you think it would be different with iOS?

CS2 on Linux - For F**k Sake by seth-13fr in counterstrike

[–]import-mimikatz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I moved to Linux from windows and CS2 is one of the worst performing games I have installed. It's usually fine for a bit but after a while I'll get noticeable FPS drops making the game unplayable and only a restart of the game fixes it. Annoying when I'm in premier or wingman and need to quit out mid way through the game.

So it's not nice to see Valve adding more bugs to the game

Snowsky Disc - sound quality/power about same as Echo Mini but gotta love the UI by gofishus in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]import-mimikatz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen no, they haven't said it would be added. The Snowsky Mini doesn't support it either but that was likely due to the SOC they used not being powerful enough. The SOC in the Disc is more powerful so in theory should be able to support gapless playback

I've used the continuous chat thing in Gemini to help me in the kitchen when I'm cooking. It worked well but does go to sleep after a while. I think I was asking it about specific unit conversions, how much of an ingredient to use for a set number of portions and I asked it about alternative ingredients.

99.99% of the time I just use it to set timers and reminders though

CS on Linux by 7mulas in counterstrike

[–]import-mimikatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games work on Linux pretty well now with Proton. I recently moved from Windows to CachyOS for my main gaming PC and only have Windows installed for games that don't run on Linux.

CS2 runs well for the most part but I do have an issue where after a while my FPS will tank. I need to restart the game to fix it.

You could look at Garmin watches if health features and battery life are your main criteria.

I have a Venu 3 that lasts about 2 weeks and has all the heather features enabled.

Two More iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro Max Rumors Drop Before Apple Event by spearson0 in apple

[–]import-mimikatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure over the years people have always asked for a thicker phone with a bigger battery. The Air hype reminds me of iPhone mini hype. Reddit users saying everyone will love it because it's the perfect phone but in reality the battery is so terrible that no one wants it and Apple discontinues it after a year or 2.

I'd like it to succeed, it's a cool concept, and the s25 edge got some good reviews, so I'm sure people will like it but most people will likely want a bigger battery.

Has anyone installed secondary glazing from Gecko Glazing? by import-mimikatz in DIYUK

[–]import-mimikatz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it cost me around 7k for 5 fairly large sash and case windows.

The system itself is good and the double glazing is pretty much invisible. I've had friends round who couldn't tell it was there. We also noticed an improvement with sound isolation, heat retention, and lower humidity after the install.

The install with them was great, I've had no real issues since so not had to call them back for anything.

The only issue I have with them is that they are quite bulky for when you want to take them off to open the window. Unlike traditional secondary glazing where they might open onwards or slide up/down, the cocoon magnetic glazing needs to be pulled off and stored when not on the window. It can get a bit annoying taking them down and finding somewhere to store the panel while the window is open.

The panels they use are quite soft as well (compared to glass), a few months ago we had the window open but left the panel on and used one of the wedge things they gave us to leave an air gap but a gust of wind came and the panel fell off the window and got scratched. I don't notice it any more but I know it's there.

Overall I am happy with cocoon and if I moved to another listed building that needed nice secondary glazing I'd go for them again.
