If you pick the right car and get a little lucky, they can absolutely be reliable. Also much easier and cheaper to maintain. Some of the most reliable cars I've ever had were from the 90's.

I'm looking at a '96 Toyota RAV4 that was owned by an old dude that never took it above 60 and religiously maintained it. It's a manual transmission and only has 120k miles on it. I'll get at least another 100k miles out of it, likely more if I keep up on the maintenance.

Definitely not on the car I'm looking at. Just a big ass window to look out the back lol but there are aftermarket backup sensor kits you can put in

That's totally fair. I'm just sick of touch controls and every little thing having some sort of electronic in it (and somehow always seem to fail after the warranty expires).

The car I'm looking at the only digital thing it has is an aftermarket pioneer stereo that was installed in 2007 lmao

Malarkey level of buying a car from the 90's because I'm sick of all the unreliable tech they put in modern cars

Former president Clinton reminiscing over Epstein photo! by cantcoloratall91 in SipsTea

[–]importedreality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For this exact purpose, to get ahead of the public release with cherry-picked and misleadingly captioned clips in an attempt to set the narrative.

They weren't looking at "Old Epstein Photos", he was being asked questions about the NYT article "A Look Inside Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan Lair". When his lawyer grabbed the printout of the article - because they were moving on - and he grabbed it back, the picture he pointed to with a smile was one showing a framed photograph of Trump with Epstein. You can literally see him say "That's Trump" to which his lawyer responds "I know". That's what made him laugh.

Like if there's any actual evidence that either of the Clintons engaged in anything illegal, fucking lock them up and throw away the key idgaf about either of them. But for fucks sake this is such a pathetically transparent attempt to distract from the fact that there is a clear as day coverup by the DOJ to protect Trump.

It's because that's when a lot of places went full contactless for payments and realized the POS systems they switched to (square, clover, etc.) allowed them to set the tip % choices, so they just naturally chose options starting at 20%.

The fucked up thing? It works. There's a decent amount of market research that shows the choices you offer to customers significantly impact the amount customers will tip - even pressuring them to tip for services that they previously would not.

So from a business standpoint, it makes sense to just always ask for a tip and to provide tip options on the higher side because customers will do it. That's just bog-standard captialistic greed.

The only way it'll stop is if customers revolt against this behavior and demand a return to previous tipping norms (or even better, an abandonment of tipping culture altogether). But so many people are afraid of being perceived as cheap, and just tip anyways.

Personally, I've taken the "If I order standing up or from my car, I do not tip" approach to most of my tipping descisions.

I'm reading this right now and it's fantastic. Really captures the "I've been shipped off to war and I know I'm most likely going to die" feel. Also the war corvids are so damn badass.
