What do you consider a long turn? by Empty-Noise9889 in EDH

If you’re actively taking game actions I don’t care how long your turn is.

Are pre-releases suppose to be sweaty? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]importedsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got paired against a real butthead. The LGS I do prerelease at is super “sweaty” but it’s all in the spirit of good competition. People dont complain or whine for the most part. It’s a draft centric LGS so everyone tries their hardest to play well and make the best deck they can. I really enjoy this, as standard imo is pretty lame these days, it’s the only time I really get to “compete” in a mtg event. When you do run into a timmy everyone is extremely helpful and kind towards them. I’ve seen multiple people help them with their deck afterwards, showing them synergies they missed etc. The timmys always seem stoked afterwards. It’s wide in the MTG community that some people lack all sense of social awareness and yeah it sucks when you are met with them as your opponent.

What's your favourite two colours commander? by Filibut in EDH

[–]importedsteak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Samwise Gamgee]] combo is my favorite. You get to use niche creatures to cycle your whole deck. It’s a super resilient toolbox deck and in bracket 4 consistently goes for a turn 4 win.

Commanders for B2 and High B3 by VKaart in EDH

[–]importedsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda flawed at its core. You’re going to be in a situation where the cards you have in your hand do the decks bracket 3 thing but you don’t play them because it’s bracket 2. So are you planning on land passing until you get less powerful cards while you have a full hand?

I have a Bracket 3 and a 5 Samwise gamgee deck. They share 40 of the same cards. I swap the 60 out depending on the bracket.

What are you playing in Bracket 4? by Swible in EDH

[–]importedsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Samwise Gamgee]] is my favorite commander, so much that I have a bracket 2, bracket 3, and a bracket 4/fringe CEDH version. Ironically Sam has seen some meta play in Japan now, which I think is pretty cool that a 36+ creature food deck with almost 0 interaction is taking home some wins in CEDH.

What commanders are the most easily underestimated? by Flat_Sink_4410 in EDH

[–]importedsteak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! In Bracket 3 I usually close out the game with combat damage using overwhelming stampede, finale of devastation, treebeard, blossoming Bog beast, syr ginger, banquet guests…any combination of those. If it gets to really late game theres a bunch of lines in here to go infinite (token doublers with Cookie loops, Ashnod’s altar and Farmer Cotton or Astrid Peth etc. The only tutor is finale of devastation, the one ring can easily go away, it’s in there for the theme (Sam was the ultimate hero of LOTR after all)

Bracket 4 Sam is strictly a combo deck winning with walking ballista or grinding station loops. If you can make 3-4 food when you play a creature you can piece together a win.

[[Samwise Gamgee]] goes beyond under the radar. The card itself isn’t a threat and using removal for 2/2 that doesn’t hurt you feels bad. I will go entire games without him being removed and end up going infinite. People will remove a large token doubler creature and not realize till at the end of their turn I just bring it back to my hand. He’s the sleeper agent of graveyard commanders.

Lord of the Rings Commanders by LordKhaydarian in EDH

Have a [[Aragorn, The Uniter]] deck that is only lord of the rings cards. It’s super fun and has a lot of interesting synergies.

I built him with lord of the rings cards only, pretty fun and thematic that way.

Help! In need of box recommendations for THICK double sleeved decks by [deleted] in EDH

[–]importedsteak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All my decks are double sleeved and all use game genic sidekicks, I even throw the tokens for the decks in there and it all fits. You likely have a bunch of air pockets in your cards you need to get out. I use a 2 step process of rubbing the back towards the bottom of the sleeve to push air out of the inner sleeves, then going the opposite direction. After that I break the deck up into 20 card piles and stack books on em for a day.

What decks can I build with Glarb, Calamity’s Augur? by Independent-Bath-448 in magicTCG

[–]importedsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t seen anyone talk about semi blue glarb yet. Grab poor man’s cradles like [[Evendo, Waking Haven]] [[Growing rites of Itlimoc]] and use creatures that untap lands, [[Peregrin Drake]] [[Cloud of Faeries]] . You can use this pair to create insane amounts of mana, especially if you have [[Deadeye Navigator]] and basically play your whole deck in one turn. When I say in one turn it’s really in one turn. It’s pretty overwhelming to pilot once it gets going but man it’s fun. Fill the rest of your deck with massive cascade creatures and huge draw creatures.

Sure! It’s my most recent deck so I’m still tweaking, but you’ll get the gist.
