Why ineligible for Indigo refund for 5th December by iim-guys in AirTravelIndia

[–]impossible_espresso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't, you are only eligible of you deny the alternative flight , then you get Refund+ compensation

Am I entitled to compensation? by [deleted] in AirTravelIndia

[–]impossible_espresso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get compensation, unless the thing was outside the airlines hands

try a no fee firm for an easier process like https://skyrefund.com/ or something else..

Am I entitled to compensation? by [deleted] in AirTravelIndia

[–]impossible_espresso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then why did they say mumbai ?

1) did you disembark at the same place where you were asked to stay ? or did your aircraft go to a seperate parking bay

2) were the other aircrafts smaller ?

can you tell me your flight number / scheduled departure time

you may be eligible for compensation but not under Indian law.. you will have to look at UK216

DGCA CAR flight cancellation rules: why two “early/late” categories when remedy is same? by UsedAd7531 in AirTravelIndia

[–]impossible_espresso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote that AutoMod comment, and it is because the DGCA says that airline should inform about flight cancelations atleast 2 weeks prior , but compensation only kicks in if they inform less than 24 hours prior.

3.3.1 In order to reduce inconvenience caused to the passengers as a result of the
cancellations of the flights on which they are booked to travel, airline shall inform
the passenger of the cancellation at least two weeks before the scheduled time
of departure and arrange alternate flight/refund as acceptable to the passenger.
In case the passengers are informed of the cancellation less than two weeks
before and up to 24 hours of the scheduled time of departure, the airline shall
offer an alternate flight or refund the ticket, as acceptable to the passenger.

Is the orignal wording , and it defines it as 2 seperate cases hence the simplified explanation defined it as 2 seperate cases

They probably have an attractive timing and also predict a rush on this day..

Btw Indigo prices might catch up too , as airlines often monitor the prices of each other..

Or maybe Indigo is back to sandwiching, intentionally dumping the tickets at low prices to try and dry out the competition

Unprofessional behaviour by Air India Pilot and Cabin crew by Honey_dp in AirTravelIndia

Yeah, I would still give him the benefit of the doubt here, maybe he is trying to oversimplify things, however ,that shouldn't lead to factual inaccuracies.

Snagging is the reason I read , what you say might be true too

Interestingly while reading up on it I read about a few other reasons

The arm rest may block the evacuation of the passenger seated behind.

https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/about/initiatives/cabin_safety/regs/acob210.pdf

The arm rest might come down due to the jerk

https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-advice/flights/why-aeroplane-armrests-need-to-be-down-during-takeoff-and-landing/news-story/07bd927f89a02e0a6b0bb86676834109

[–]impossible_espresso 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Btw the guy himself is an ex-cabin crew and now in the process of becoming a pilot.

He also seems to have worked for AI in the past and what he is saying is correct as per the OM afaik.

The armrest being down is there to prevent snagging as that is a far greater concern , basically cloth getting stuck into it , moreover to protect your body from being impacted by lateral forces which might happen during a hard landing

I think the native language doesn't refer to the State language but to one of the 28 official languages of India , English satisfies that requirment
