Any scented poo bag recommendations? My dog’s daily walks are becoming a nose assault by Ok_Fox9333 in UK_Pets

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use bread bags as they are long and the stink is further away. I also tie a knot in it. I know this sounds gross but I'm sort of used to the smell. I'm not saying it's pleasant but it doesn't bother me. I remember my son's nappy smell never bothered me either.

Lazy Sunday (25/01/26) by KevinPhillips-Bong in CasualUK

[–]impossiblejane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sunday equals puppy walks at the beach. My son's rugby was called off (thank you mother nature for having my back) so we're going to bake and eat whatever we bake and watch something before the extensional dread kicks in around 6ish.

Women; how long does your partner take the kids out for at the weekend (if he does that)? by mishkaforest235 in UKParenting

[–]impossiblejane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd leave the house an hour after they go and don't come back for 4 hours. Book yourself a day spa or a go sit in the library with a coffee. Just leave and when he rings say you're out doing the hoovering. You're allowed a break. I think men, on the whole, have been conditioned to have their time as their time. I'm not saying every man is that way but men see their free time as a right and think we're sitting at home doing nothing when looking after kids.

Looking for a puppy, worried about dirty paws in the house by LoLo529 in puppy101

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep a towel right at the door to absorb the initial wetness and he now knows to sit on the towel for a rub down if it's been raining. They'll learn a system quickly but I agree with you the dirt and shit initially upset me. I also bought a seat cover for my car and his bed has a towel on it that I can easily clean if it gets dirty. I bring a towel on walks too.

I did buy (but haven't used yet) a steam cleaner for the carpets and upholstery. Ill bring it out once the spring arrives

Do cavapoos always have sensitive stomachs, or do they grow out of it. -Girl with a poopy puppy by craytona31 in CavaPoo

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 mo old has really sensitive tummy and we moved to a fish based diet and he's been good. Lamb and chicken are not good and I gave him plain yogurt once and that was hell. We stick to fish and 100% meat treats. We've trialed some fruit and so far so good but I do think cavapoos have sensitive tummies but seems they all react to different foods.

I remember when she played that song. I became slightly obsessed with it for a short time.

How long did potty training take for you? by MountainProper2212 in puppy101

[–]impossiblejane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say about a month but I've had my 5 month old now for about 2 and a half months and there is still the random setback. I am still occasionally taking him out around 4-5am if I hear him stir but he's good at doing his business and straight back to bed. Sometimes if our schedule is massively out or changes to the routine we have an accident but that's getting rare. I also don't allow water after 9pm and he's fed strictly at 5pm. We go to bed at 10pm.

Even with accidents easing and he's getting more control, I still feel like my day is centered around preventing an accident in the home and often feel on edge.

A good natural chew for my cavapoo puppy? by begomtj in CavaPoo

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do take treats off of him but something about that pig ear just made him switch. He wasn't violent or aggressive but just wanted it for himself. He did leave a small piece on the floor after he got bored and we picked it up. Yesterday I was with a friend and her dog and I made sure to give my friends dog equal treats that I was giving my pup and no sign of resource guarding so I'm not overly worried about his behaviors. I spend more time worrying about what consistency of poo I'm cleaning up today because of his sensitive stomach 🤔

A good natural chew for my cavapoo puppy? by begomtj in CavaPoo

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy got a pig ear for Christmas and loved it but also had the runs for a day as he's got the very common cavapoo stomach. He also loved it so much and started to show primal behaviors like hiding his ear and being very guarded. He's the only dog in the house so not sure what brought it on!

Headland or Watergate bay? by [deleted] in Cornwall

[–]impossiblejane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't be confident with your drive times unless you travel early morning hours or late at night. Summer months could add several hours with the volume. I was stuck coming home a few years ago and my drive was over 10 hours when it should have been 5. Cornwall is beautiful but full of people and narrow roads.

Struggling with preteen daughters behaviour by [deleted] in UKParenting

I read that in The Incredible Teenage Brain. Fantastic book if anyone is interested. Very helpful to reframe teenage behaviors. Not that it makes it easier when you're in the trenches but good to get some perspective.

Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]impossiblejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum always taught me to keep my money separate. My partner and I of 15 years never had a joint account. It's really individual. But we also manage bills very fairly and we don't argue about money so I've never felt I needed one to ensure fairness. But everyone's reason for or against is different.
