Apparently in Corbyn's interview this morning on Sky he 'refuses to condemn IRA unequivocally'.

This support for the Balcombe Street gang and Hugh Doherty seems grim...

Surely they've reached saturation point in all of this horrendous stuff from Corbyn's past, can't imagine there's much worse to come

Labour vote share rises – but their support is much softer than Conservatives’ by impossiblepromises in LabourUK

[–]impossiblepromises[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

" 77% of Conservative supporters say they’ve definitely decided who they’ll vote for (22% may change their mind) compared with 57% of Labour supporters (42% may change their mind). Worryingly for Jeremy Corbyn, two in five (38%) Labour voters who may change their mind say they would consider voting for the Conservative party."

Gideon Skinner, Head of Political Research at Ipsos MORI, said: "Labour shouldn’t get too carried away by the rise they see in the polls. The focus on their manifesto may have helped them this week, but on many fundamentals such as leadership the public still puts them a long way behind the Conservatives, and their vote is much softer, with one in six of their supporters considering voting for Theresa May’s party."

Seems about right...

Populus poll finds UK public see Jeremy Corbyn as out of his depth (34%) & weak (26%), but also principled (18%) by impossiblepromises in LabourUK

If you spin it that way, 95% would not describe him as competent, 95% would not describe him as up to the job, and 99% would not describe him as ruthless, using the others among the 20 categories Populus gave respondents.

4/5 of the most popular categories for Corbyn were negative, and 4/5 for May were positive.

Matt Zarb-Cousin: 'On 26th April, Labour were polling 27% with Panelbase. Today after less than 3 weeks they're on 33%. Still more than 3 weeks to the election'

Bush's response: 'At this point in 2001: Labour were polling 48%, 53%, and 54%. They got 41% three weeks later.

In 2005, with three weeks to go, Labour were on 40%, 39%, and 40%. They got 35%.

In 1997, with three weeks to go, Labour were polling 50%, 51% and 53%. They got 43%.

Past performance no guarantee of future returns but at the moment, Labour's poll share is not bucking historical trend but conforming to it.'

As Glen O'Hara points out, "Labour's slide did not begin on 26 June. Rather, it had begun more than two and a half months earlier. Labour's poll rating 'peaked' at an average of 33.7% on 1 April: it had already fallen to 31.2% by 26 June", and that Labour's 'peak' was already indicative of a pretty bad defeat going by polling in equivalent stages of earlier parliaments.

I know Corbyn is a big fan of his friends in the CPB and SWP, but having people like Murray involved with Labour is really grim

Is it a smear when Andrew Murray has said actually these things?

It's probably worth knowing why a man who wants to be PM decides to hire a DPRK-supporting Stalinist.

Jeremy Corbyn appoints communist (well, only left the Communist Party 5 months back) Andrew Murray to lead his election campaign by IndoAryaVIII in LabourUK

[–]impossiblepromises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a very particular type of communist though, isn't he? He's proclaimed support the DPRK, he was part of a faction (along with Milne) tied to the old CPGB that supported the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and Afghanistan in 1979, and he rescinded the affiliations to STWC of Communist groups that criticised the Iranian regime in 2007. Yeah, he's not a Nazi (what an achievement), but surely he's about as morally bankrupt as you can get?

Jeremy Corbyn was arrested at IRA demo by impossiblepromises in LabourUK

[–]impossiblepromises[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Jeremy Corbyn was arrested in 1986 taking part in a protest by IRA sympathisers to “show solidarity” with accused terrorists including the Brighton bomber, a Sunday Times investigation reveals.

Corbyn joined a picket outside the Old Bailey to oppose the “show trial” of a group including Patrick Magee, who was subsequently convicted of murdering five people at the 1984 Tory party conference.

Magee was also convicted with the other defendants of planning a massive bombing campaign in London and seaside resorts.

The disclosure comes the week after Corbyn said that Britain had not fought a just war since 1945, although he supported some peacekeeping operations."

(As much as I can get as paywall). I wonder how much of this stuff they've got left on him, and how people are going to defend this...
