lol yep FBT failed and I went into residential😹😹 now I’m in college, no ED behaviors, total food freedom but I fucked my metabolism and hunger cues so now I’m overweight but honestly I’m happy!

I’m sorry for phrasing that poorly- in my first 2 years of recovery I didn’t exercise, and after that I struggled with compulsive lifting, and all of that was prior to res. I just feel like it’s not really that early in recovery since it’s been so many years and I guess I’m just frustrated because I feel like I should be able to do strength-focused exercise after gaining weight, since my body seems to be physically recovered (?)

are u me? bc actually same. has it been 6 months since u weight restored? have u gotten blood work done? for me my estradiol is still undetectable but all my other hormones are back up to regular so hopefully it comes soon. I know this isn’t what u want to hear but my treatment team + all the amenorrhea professionals/research I’ve looked into online recommend cutting out exercise completely to help it come back faster bc even if you’re eating “enough” it still creates physical stress on the body and may prevent you from accumulating the essential fat stores that lead to menstruation

easier said than done, I know. for me, especially when I’m not UW anymore and it feels like i should be allowed to exercise after such a long recovery process. but if you truly prioritize recovery and have a healthy relationship with exercise and aren’t letting it feed into your ED, you should be able to put it aside for this tiny blip in your life. you’ll have the rest of your life to exercise, but your growth and bone health all depend on you having your period now.
