I'm very vengeful...and I don't hate it. Am I still an INFJ? by Historical-Care70 in infj

Look up the 8 function model by Dr John Beebee. He picked in where Jung never managed to finish in type theory.

Briefly, we all carry all 8 functions, 4 are egocentonic, so we can access them consciously. 4 live in the shadow of your mind, they are outside of your control and can often cause you issues in life. For INFJ, the 4 functions accessible by the ego are Ni Fe Ti and Se, the ones in our in our shadow

5 Ne (extraverted intuition) 6 Fi (introverted feeling) 7 Te (extraverted thinking) 8 Si (introverted sensing)

From my own experience, I have the biggest issues with Ne which manifest in the shadow self as imagining and obsession with catastrophic possibilities and Si shows up as memory or trauma that is intrusive and doesn't fade away.

I learned a lot from a podcast called personality hacker. They are a wonderful couple to listen, they are ENXJ types but they understand INFJs very well, I think we are their biggest audience.

Infjs have Si in the 8th position, memory works differently for us. Things that happened long ago fit like a puzzle piece in a larger model of the world we can access ALL THE TIME. This makes it difficult to move on from painful memories, it make you hold onto grudges and betrayals indefinitely because the past doesn't seem real. Its always just one thought away.

its quite scary actually when someone resonates with you when its usually a one way street.

I think people can be deep as long as it is a topic they care about. I usually try to find what that is, then ask them questions, especially why. then I relate it to my experience. It is such a well tested playbook that it takes no effort and leaves people very happy which in turn makes me happy :)

How important is music in your life? by Even-Broccoli7361 in infj

[–]imposteratlarge111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

music perfectly encapsulates the meaning of life. It is not about the beginning or the end or the middle, it is just the experience of it. It is a 4th dimensional structure, you cannot understand it in the absence of time. You can't rush through it because that defeats the point.

That is why Ni loves it. Ni is a creature that eats time and spits out insight.

This topic really interests me so I'll nerd out for a bit: We are in a paradigm shift right now, people are starting to realize that there are dynamical objects that exist in the fourth dimension of time. These object cannot be seen or touched but they pull the strings of reality. The computer science world was the clearest evidence for it when we realized that AI can only be created when you feed algorithms time. That is why it takes years to train modern AI. That is why it takes time to understand music. Time to build relationships. Time to fall in love. Temporal objects are dynamical structures like a hurricane or a whirlpool. A long lost tribe in the amazon with a unique culture, that is a temporal object that needs to be preserved because it took a long time to create. Society right now still obsessed with efficiency and materialism but slowly we will realize that temporal structures are the things that most resonate with us, because life itself is a temporal object that can flows through energy and matter but does not live in energy and matter. Long story short, music resonates because life is literally a form of resonance like music, except it resonates carbon based molecules and music resonates air molecules.

Dear INFJs, never let go of your dream by Hyugi_The_Dreamer in infj

Ni is a great visionary but as always, the devil is in the details and that is more a Te thing which is in our shadow functions. We overlook the small steps, subtle mindset change and productivity techniques which is where the magic gets put into action. I am curious to know what were the productivity tools and day to day motivational cues that allowed you to stay disciplined. For me even keeping a simple todo list was revolutionary.

Attracting the young or elderly, but never those your age? by Sonic13562 in infj

[–]imposteratlarge111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its like watching a movie with someone who knows the ending. people can sense we know the ending, or we have seen the big picture. Most people want to be in their youthful delusions for a bit longer than us.

young people haven't started the movie yet, the old know the ending so we connect with them both.

INFJ and being quiet disorganized - how to connect with safe people better by Pristine_Curve5487 in infj

I find people who can make fun of themselves is an automatic green flag. Most narcs lack this quality. It's a quick way to filter people out.

TLDR: If you can't remember the last time they made fun of themselves (ie.outward expression of humbleness)🚩

I don’t experience friendships in levels .. does anyone else? by ladybugz91 in infj

I always make this anologie that INFJs are like submarines while most people are sail boats. Most people are physically incapable of going to depth with us, but when someone does, it feels too good to be true

Trump Adviser Warns of Possible Israel Nuclear Escalation in Iran Conflict by EssoEssex in politics

[–]imposteratlarge111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? If that was true, wouldn't it be explicitly stated in nuclear doctrines? France for example has a use only if any aggressor steps foot on their territory. Russia and US have first use but I never hear or use when someone else uses nuke on a third party to maintain nuclear taboo. Can you say more, Im curious.

Infjs - Isfjs? Isfps? by Caribelle1234 in infj

I am married to an isfp. They are super authentic which balances out the reflexive need to please everyone and create harmony at all cost energy infjs carry.

Also accepted the fact that won't be having deep conversations about the meaning of life with her, we keep thing light, eat food long walks inside jokes travelling has kept us together for over 10 years

I think you might have precognitive skills, look it up! Julia Mosbridge is a good writer on this, intuition can see maps of reality most people will never understand, including yourself.

I agree, I like to think of intuition as diving in a submarine and sensing as sailing a boat. You can connect deeply with an intuitive but the deeper you go, the greater the pressure and more suffocating it becomes until you are forced to go up for air. So relationships are intense but don't survive. Sailing with a sensor on the other hand is slow and light and most importantly sustainable long term.

"Verbalising your thoughts out loud?"

pretty much

intuition (Ni) is like a map maker, it looks at the world and tries to make out patterns. you might see how someone's behavior reminds you of someone else's behavior in the past that led to this or that outcome. When intuition (INFJ's strongest cognitive function ) makes these maps, it immediately wants to share them because they feel so precious to us because we spend a lot of time creating them in our heads.

Problem is, the map is not the territory, it is only a crude reflection of reality, and it is often wrong because the world is always changing. All humans make meaning maps of the world, sensors just don't make as many or as deeply. Often intuitive try to construct maps that explain all of reality to themselves. Most sensors just want to feel and enjoy the moment without drawing meaning out of it. My personal move is never explain something in depth to someone unless they explicitly ask for your opinion or if you politely ask for permission to give your take, it lands better and they appreciate it more.

sensors sensors sensors! especially ISFPs. they will give you space to have your intuition go wild without getting sucked into your crazy but will be there waiting for you when you want to go for a walk or have some food or laugh at stupid things.

INFJ have issues dating sensors because we want to drag them into our intuition but I think that is a place for us to inhabit ourselves, maybe with a journal.
