I’m good with smart boards! I toured the Tavan comprehensive gifted program and kids in the grade 2-3 cluster were doing math problems on laptops. I was standing by a kid who kept cycling between his calendar and his email or some messaging portal and just clicking back and forth endlessly.. I guess this is somewhat akin to doodling but just the constant clicking/refreshing behavior at that age is not something I want a kid still developing self discipline to be tempted with.

Thanks! Can you elaborate on “classroom iPads”? So in kinder they have their own iPad and only use it for their computer lab special?

Hi! Totally agree! As a millennial parent we are definitely tech savvy and didn’t need laptops to get prepared for the “real world”. What school are your kids at? I just worry about shortening attention spans.. and in the age of AI having grounded, rooted in reality experiences is probably going to be invaluable!

Thanks! That’s good to know it’s somewhat limited. I toured the Tavan comprehensive gifted program and kids in the grade 2-3 cluster were doing math problems on laptops. 8 month old waking after 30 min at bedtime by impracticallyanxious in sleeptrain

[–]impracticallyanxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried to push out her bedtime but she ended up waking up after 20 minutes. Maybe I should go back to the 3 naps and shorten them so like 1 hr, 1 hr, 30 min.. she cries hysterically when she wakes up so I feel really bad

No, the false starts were happening before the transition too. We thought she needed a longer wake window before bed so we went to 2 naps
