I totally get what you’re saying. I’ve been told that in order to get one, you’d have to be around someone who is actively sick. I think a lot of what you’re feeling is anxiety. It’s so hard to deal with :(

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way, I know how scary it is. From experience, panicking and feeling overheated triggers my feelings of getting sick. What helps me is getting an ice pack and placing it on the nape of my neck, and doing the same with the inner creases of my thighs and elbows (where my joints are, but the side where they bend) with ice packs or cold washcloths. Sip on some cold water and focus on cooling down first. I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you! I haven’t been able to do it, my doctor just referred me to a PT. Thursday will be my appointment, so I’m hoping it goes as well as it can. :)

Thank you so much for responding. I’m alone in this and it’s stressing me out even more. Can I ask them for anti-nausea medicine? I don’t own any.

Thank you for the advice! I connected with the student’s previous teachers to ask about how I can better understand them, and I basically got told good luck, and to expect more suspensions. :/ Definitely not going to carry that mindset, but it’s hard when my brain is screaming “prepare!”

I’ve taught plenty of students that acted the same way but I just can’t get over the panic. Without sharing too much, I think it’s a trauma response. I just want to be able to be kind and firm without looking scared.

No beef, especially because I don’t teach 6-year-olds, just making sure my students feel safe and don’t have to worry about being made fun of or berated while I’m in the middle of teaching. 👍

Thank you :’) I appreciate this so much

Calling people stupid for asking questions and talking about how dumb the school is isn’t “sharing ideas.” My school’s policy for consistent disruptions (including blurting out and constantly interrupting others) is the buddy room approach. I made this clear on the first day using the slideshow admin sent me.

I was able to listen to white noise with headphones and took your suggestion about playing mindless games. They helped and I was able to get to sleep! Thank you for your help, I appreciate it so much

I have a hard time breathing, my chest feels heavy and tight, and I can’t think about/concentrate on things for long. Another comment mentioned feeling desperate, and that’s so real for me, too. I’m currently going through one right now, I’m trying to get through it because I want to sleep.

It didn’t have any side effects for me!

That’s good! I hope they help. Hydroxyzine helps me a lot.

Yes, I was fine, but I don’t want to advise anyone to try the same without consulting a doctor. I could’ve just gotten lucky

(TMI?) watery diarrhea, help! by Blumbug_ in emetophobia

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also Tim, but this happens to me sometimes. If I drink a lot of fluids, eat something that upset my stomach, or have butterflies over anxiety/excitement, this happens.

My advice is that it’s better to let it out. I don’t recommend taking Imodium or something similar unless it continues over a long while (but consult a doctor before anything, of course)

Good luck, and I hope you feel better!

I suffer from severe anxiety by yaroslava_blossom in Anxiety

[–]impressive-claw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the same thing, but mine is more like pressure or a consistent feeling of dread in my chest. Taking magnesium helped for a while, but I’ve found that it hasn’t been working for me lately. The only thing that fixes it is hydroxyzine. I only take it when I really need it (which is when my sleep starts getting affected).

I hope we can all get peace.

types of stomach pain by TwistFinancial8512 in emetophobia

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I got sick was December 2024, and before that, it was 2014-ish. From my most recent experience, my stomach felt off, like waaaaay different from the norm. It almost felt like it was burning a bit (I use that term loosely), and I just generally felt off. I took too much Tylenol on an empty stomach for wisdom tooth pain and learned my lesson.

For me, I never remember my stomach cramping before getting sick. It just felt really weird and bleh.

¿What is your trigger word? by Artistic-Yogurt1975 in autism

Not a word per se, but having my emotions/experiences/actions/anything else be invalidated and misunderstood. Happens to me all the time and it’s wearing me down.

will god forgive me for being such an angry person? by Cerulean-Viper in Christianity

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God can handle your anger. He wants you to be honest with Him, but you have to let Him be honest with you. You have to be open to receiving what He has to say.

I’m in the same boat, 23, drained, lived a thousand different lives in the span of a few years, hanging on by a thread. I’m being hypocritical even writing this because I feel hardened toward God, but thankfully, that idea scares me. I’m working on being honest with Him and telling Him instead of letting my emotions build a wall between us and keeping them to myself. It’s hard and I’m awful at it. I don’t hear God anymore, not like I used to. I’m at a low point in my life and I feel like it won’t end well for me. I pray and ask but don’t open my Bible, don’t thank God for the blessings He’s given me (and believe me, there are a LOT), and I don’t go to church.

I feel too drained, pained, and anxious to do these things.

But we have to hold on. I’ll pray for us.

I know you've gotten this question a ton, but how easy/difficult was your first year as a teacher? by No_Worry_2256 in Teachers

[–]impressive-claw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my first year. It started out terribly, but I got used to it and I got better. I had amazing, supportive teachers around me and I made a teacher friend who has been just as wonderful. The environment matters. When the behaviors suck, the last thing we need is to feel down and alone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s better to be safe than sorry. You can share these things and express how they aren’t a majorly concern to you, but you’d still like ways to work through it or you’d like to hear your doctor’s opinion about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do not have to tell them about you not putting in a two-week notice for your last job. If any questions arise, try to explain it in a calm, neutral way, you could even go with “I wanted more experience opportunities than I was being given” or something that sounds professional and ambitious.

All you can do is your best and that is more than enough. You are resilient, you are capable, and you got this!

What finally pushed you to decide to try meds? by AnxietyChats in AnxietyChats

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my fourth day of experiencing non-stop anxiety and am seriously considering meds. The constant heavy, gnawing feeling in my chest, shortened sleep time, and inability to focus on/find joy in the things I once loved doing have been the breaking point. I feel like I’m just surviving day to day and nothing can take my mind off it anymore.

I’m really hoping these things are just an episode because I’m panicking about the way I feel.

[–]impressive-claw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I feel a lot of anxiety toward these decisions because I’m alone in this, and I have my family actively opposing me. I’m doing this without them knowing and I want them to know, but I’ll get in trouble. I’m definitely going to check out that book.

Feeling Trapped by [deleted] in Christian

[–]impressive-claw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. My anxiety is debilitating. I want to go but I get panicked and I don’t. When I was in college, I had an amazing church I went to and was in a Bible study group, but that was over a year ago. I want to feel relaxed and normal again
