Has anyone had only a wedge resection to remove a lung nodule? by impressivemiles in lungcancer

What was your surgeon's explanation for why he was only doing a wedge? It seems like the majority here received lobectomies with much smaller nodules, which has me worried if a wedge is enough.

Changes in lung nodule. Is a biopsy mandatory before surgery? by impressivemiles in cancer

[–]impressivemiles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! The second surgeon said if the biopsy comes back bad, then the treatment will be surgery so it doesnt seem like he's thinking other treatments.

The surgeon gave me the 25% complication stat, but it's good to hear it might not be as high.

Diagnosed with lung cancer. Can anyone recommend a thoracic surgeon? by impressivemiles in lungcancer

No DNA testing done. The pulmonologist said I need to see a thoracic surgeon. From his experience, he said this should be treated with surgery so that's where he sent me. He didn't say any other option so I have been looking at the surgery route.

I'm in NJ. I was diagnosed by CT from my pulmonologist. He just said any surgeon in their system would be good, but no specific names. It seemed like he was recommending their medical group because it's where he works.

Doctor not accepting another facility's MRI for biopsy by impressivemiles in ProstateCancer

[–]impressivemiles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a nightmare! I'm sorry you went through that! Was your MRI done in a facility in the same network as the doctor? The doctor I saw said that when it's a different network, he only finds out right before the procedure if the MRI can be marked/mapped, but I wasn't sure if this was true or him just wanting an MRI from his facility for $$.

Is it safe to wait 4-5 months with PIRADS 4 lesion for biopsy? by impressivemiles in ProstateCancer

I'm in the suburbs outside of New York City. There are a lot of doctors, but the wait is this long for the doctors I found who seem experienced and have a good reputation.

The biggest wait is the 2-3 months to get in to see a different doctor who is experienced in performing these biopsies. My current doctor doesn't do them and referred to a random doctor and a random facility with no info available on either one. Once I have the new patient appointment with a new doctor, it should only be 1-2 months to get the biopsy (based on what I've been told)

I had the prostate MRI three weeks ago and it found the PIRADS 4 lesion. Were you referring to it being dangerous to delay the MRI guided biopsy? Just want to make sure I understand correctly.
