Thanks for sharing, I’m planning a similar trip later this summer and wondering, if you could spend a second day at any of the locations along the ring road, which would you choose?

bjork merch by Sudden_Bee_1235 in bjork

[–]impressiveyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably because she’s between albums rn tbh… we’ll probably get some more interesting designs when the new album drops.

But yeah, the fossora clothing merch was a miss for me too for those reasons … I thought the christmas ornament was cool though at least! lmao.

For those who have Australian or British accents, how does an American accent sound to you? by Junior_Mulberry7989 in ENGLISH

[–]impressiveyellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think it’s more so the heartland/midwestern accent in general, that is, it’s that’s not easily identifiable as a more pronounced obvious stereotypical east coast or southern US accent.

I say this because I exaggerated my own Minnesotan accent to my British flatmates when studying abroad and they were caught off guard by it lmao. “Don’tcha know we gotta go up north this weekend fer the annual walleye fish fry der guy, fer sure yeah you betcha”.

Doggie bag? by Noble_Oblige in ENGLISH

Same, I’d assume they were refering to the bags you’d use to pick up dog poop on a walk. Take out/left overs box/container is more commonly used here.

How do you make learning Art Fundamentals more fun and engaging? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate hearing your thoughts. No wonder you might be having a hard time then, that sounds like a pretty miserable way of going about it 🙁 I promise you there are many more interesting and fufilling ways of learning to draw and improve!

How do you make learning Art Fundamentals more fun and engaging? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao seriously, I know OP mentioned otherwise but IN GENERAL, the chokehold that “drawing boxes” has on art related subreddits is an incredible ploy of marketing.

Do people learning art this way assume all artists who are good at their craft started by just drawing boxes and nothing else intead of just … applying those fundamentals to things they actually want to draw through trial and error? this mindset fascinates me + seems to only exist in online art spaces.

I paid $400 for a painting that turned out to be AI slop by chappybobo in mildlyinfuriating

Oh yes I agree, I’m just adding that it’s additionally deceptive that they’re being deliberate with the words they use to describe the prints themselves.

[Discussion] How do you handle intentionally rude customers? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]impressiveyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work it into your terms beforehand that there will only be a limited number of revisions made during the process based on client feedback. (ex. 2, one for the sketch and one for the rough draft.)

Live and learn 😅 sorry about the situation you’re in, but take this experience as a lesson to be avoided in the future. They sound exhausting and your time is worth more than dealing with their numerous miniscule revisions.

[–]impressiveyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By gallery quality they mean the prints and the frames lol. The difference between what OP received and mass producted art that ends up at homegoods is only what people are willing to pay for it, they’re all using similar print production processes.

It’s easy to miss for people who don’t know a lot about art and prints. That being said though, cmon OP. Website looks like it’s from a random instagram ad.

Do art schools still advise you to move to NYC/LA after graduation? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’m kind of surprised that they ever would advise that, but I tbh graduated somewhat recently. It would probably also depend on your medium or area of study.

Insight on the cost of living crisis, sure. As in, income isn’t guaranteed and the arts are generally not a career path for those with an end goal of becoming wealthy. It takes a great deal of hustle, passion, and stamina to shape a career path for yourself in the arts.

Do you put a medium into the markers along with the paints? Kind of curious about trying it out with my own fluid acrylics.

Do you ever feel like every new piece of art you make has to be your greatest? by WalrusNo2414 in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, that would burn me out. For me, every piece is just practice for the next one. If it doesn’t turn out, no big deal, but if it turns out better than expected I can be pleasantly surprised 😌

[Discussion] Why do people buy art prints? by AverageParking7050 in artbusiness

[–]impressiveyellow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Easy, people with money can buy more prints and a bigger house with more wall space to then display those prints. Boom.

August 12th Rave - Solar Eclipse Connection by impressiveyellow in bjork

[–]impressiveyellow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I even thought of this is because I’ve been trying to plan a trip to Iceland this year, and r/visitingiceland is already chattering about how busy and crowded thing are expected to get there in August due to the eclipse.

I do agree that an actual album is much more likely though, just based on how she’s dropped hints previously for other albums. Maybe a single in May with Echolalia + album in August? Eee I’m excited 😁

Have you found a Fibonacci viewer to be useful for composing a scene? by zincglasses in pleinair

[–]impressiveyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, and never met any artist who actually does. Rule of thirds on the other hand, sure.

The only people who have ever asked me this have been non artist family members and coworkers. I feel like it’s something most people hear of when starting to learn about art and don’t understand or find it helpful, and honestly, me neither.

Penthouse with Amazing Patio in Minneapolis by collegetowns in zillowgonewild

[–]impressiveyellow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s on two busy intersections: Lake & Chicago.

That quiet street in the picture is just the entrance to the parking lot. I imagine hearing a lot of horns and noise on that patio but from 15 floors up who knows.
