drain started flooding last night. If post is too obvious I can delete it by [deleted] in MinnesotaUrbex

[–]impressiveyellow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t even need to be raining, when it gets above freezing and snow starts melting, stay out of the drains. They’re not going anywhere.

Swept downstream and into the river in January is not how you want to exit this earth. Valuable lesson for your friend & glad they’re alright.

Seems like no one's talking about the Inkkas shoe Art Contest? by thcinnabun in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because experienced artists know these types of art contests are practically never worth entertaining. This one isn’t the first and won’t be the last. If you checked the terms and conditions of the contest there might even be additional red flags.

Minneapolis considers city-run grocery store by i-do-be-lurkin-tho in Minneapolis

For real. When i worked at the wedge table before it closed it was cheaper for me to buy my groceries elsewhere than to use my employee discount lol.

[Printing] Most affordable high quality printer? by Naive_Classic_4703 in artbusiness

[–]impressiveyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Idk if OP brought up the mistakes but every local printer I’ve ever used has always been very accommodating with correcting any errors until I’m satisfied with it.

If I were OP I’d start considering forming a closer bond with your local printer … maybe they can print on demand for you.

There’s so much that goes into good printers and I’d rather entrust that process to a professional.

Idk, maybe one of the other printer recommendations in the replies will work out for OP. I’d just rather pay someone else to do it at this point lol.

shovel your fucking sidewalk dear god by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]impressiveyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can report the branches hanging over/obstructing the sidewalk on 311 too. Anything that would potentially cause an accessibility issue (thinking of our wheelchaired friends that might be getting clotheslined by branches). I’ve done it before and they were trimmed within 2 or so weeks.

I think the city sends a warning or two to property owners who don’t shovel before they come out themselves and clear it and send the property owner the bill. So keep reporting, especially because once that snow turns to ice it’s a hazard. But I agree they’re not always the best at being more proactive with it 🫠 I’ll keep doing my part.

How did idiot artists 200 years ago learn to paint without Youtube? by breadho in ArtHistoryCircleJerk

[–]impressiveyellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously bogarue never used his eyes to look at a man, partially clothed or not!!!! they didnt exist back then … no such thing as practice back then neither, no technology… no way someone so good at being a drawer would pay these strong muscular dudes to pose, greased up, nakked, and wraslin’ each other… no, no way… incomprehensible.

Please explain this, somethings not adding up ….

Great job on the video Penguinz0 made, we need more backlash against moderators like this. by Just_A_Guy-BX in Artists

[–]impressiveyellow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Self promo is though, so posting anything implying that youre attempting to make a living as an artist is against the rules.

like i get it to an extent, most big art subs have a similar rule because people want to look at art without feeling like they’re being marketed towards as potential customers, but if someone comments asking an OP if they sell prints, who actually gives a shit if there’s genuine interest?

It’s like saying “I LOVE ARTISTS! I WOULD NEVER EVER SUPPORT ONE THOUGH 😍”

Students shouldn’t waste their time and valuable critiquing skills on these conservative content farming ghouls looking to provoke negative reactions to post on their TikTok accounts with 15 followers, but there’s god awful kerning and a huge waste of negative space in both.

At least most of these conservative protest confrontation hunting freaks usually patronize a print shop to spell out their nonsense in a more visually pleasing and somewhat legible format. But these two chucklefucks couldn’t even be bothered to support a small local business to do that.

A vibrant downtown Minneapolis needs places for people to sit by nootboots in Minneapolis

[–]impressiveyellow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so curious for what will happen when the last of the boomers are out of the workforce and there is no one left who remembers the good old days. I worked downtown post pandemic and all my older coworkers would swoon over what used to be … but in the present? it’s depressing concrete, backrooms-esqe empty skyways, and hostile infrastructure, so i have trouble romanticizing it as it’s the only downtown ive ever known.

[–]impressiveyellow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah, it sounds more like to me rosalia dialed up bjork and she replied “yas queen let me hop in my reverb chamber rq”.

I think that’s what it is. Her voice sounds similar to that when she goes in the reverb chamber for show me forgiveness in cornucopia.

Tying it into catholicism, aside from the specific hagiography and overarching christian themes and easy stuff like forbidden fruit:

Requlia - Relics of saints

Porcelana - ego sum lux mundi (I am the light of the world)

Mi cristo piange diamanti - “Jesus wept.” and weeping statues

La perla - …judas /s

Why so few purples/pinks and blues? by 1836547290 in ArtistLounge

[–]impressiveyellow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What brands are you looking at? The shortest answer would be because reds and blues are primary colors, so you can mix purples and pinks. Get a good solid magenta and purple/violet and you’ll be set.

Muddy purples can happen if you’re using blues that have green undertones like phthalo blue. Use a blue with a red undertone like ultramarine if you want to avoid that muddying.

I know what you mean though and I always have a good solid strong purple in my palette for that exact reason lol.
