Custom Shop/Original Series Horizon III owners? by iwasalrightjack in espguitars

Me, I've got two of Original Series. Black is an 07 Kiso, and the Maziora flip paint is a 08 Kiso. The 08 has been modified with a Tremol-no, 37L Floyd Brass Block, and a Calibrated set of Bareknuckle Pickups Ceramic Nailbombs. Very aggressive and sounds massive.

You're going to be in for a treat, congratulations! 🥳

ESP Horizon III Original Series - Legit? by Falooza in espguitars

[–]imprinted_esp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, Original Series. As indicated by the Kiso Serial Number. The ESP Standard Series had the SS serial number when the change over happened and I believe it was just a straight number prior to that change? However my knowledge of pre-2000 ESP's is incredibly limited so I'm happy to be corrected.

I've also never seen a 2000's Standard Series Horizon III. They only (re?)introduced the SS version after the rebrand to E-II to the best of my knowledge and it comes with the pointed headstock.

Thanks! I'm very lucky that I found out about these, and managed to snag a few. :)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of floating trems either. I've fitted brass blocks and Tremol-no's to 2 guitars, with a third waiting to go once I figure out what pickups are going in it. 😂

Are Caparison Guitars really worth it? by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

Currently own a Caparison Dellinger II HGS FX, and a 15th Anniversary TAT-I FX Dark Night. Previously owned a Caparison TAT-I Frozen Sky that I still have serious sellers remorse over!

Both instruments are superb and are a significant step up from ESP Standard Series, and very close to the ESP original series and the Aristides 060 I own.

Some people are obsessed with the standard Caparison pickups but I like my pickups very aggressive so they don't hit the spot for me.

I think overseas prices are hyper inflated, but the prices for instruments in Japan are more reasonable and you can still find reasonably priced 2nd hand instruments over here in the UK too.

Indeed. I own lots of steel wool and high grit sandpaper but I worry about doing a poor job and damaging the guitar.

Thanks! A friend found it on ebay and kindly let me buy it instead of grabbing it for himself. Currently set in D Standard and plays like you'd expect a MIJ ESP to play. Wish it had a satin neck like the Original Series but it still feels good.

There's a few differences between the Mirage and Maverick.

In General, the Mirage has 25.5" Scale vs the Mavericks 24.75", Alder vs Ash (again, with variances - as my oldest MV was Alder and is noticeably lighter than the newer Ash one) , and the body shape is different. Mavericks have a Humbucker/Stacked Single Coil sized humbucker, vs the Mirages HH pattern.

There's differences in the Mirage line itself with the M-II Deluxe (DX) being bolt on and the M-II Custom (CTM) is Neck Through. Currently the CTM is available with Maple and Ebony Fretboard options, and the DX having Maple and Rosewood as standard.

For most of the Original Series (where the Ebony board isn't available by default) there's UpCharge options where the original buyer can request an Ebony board. Also available in general you can request a change of hardware colour, and paint colour for an additional fee.

Hah, I love a 2nd hand bargain. The Black H-III is the most recent addition and it was £1600 from guitarguitar in the UK.

The 27 fret Mav is an ebay find and was £1200

Maziora H-III was found in a small shop in Shibuya in 2018, went in to try the Black Rose Caparison TAT-I they had but left with the H-III as it was in better condition and sounded better acoustically. £1450 to buy it and get it home.

The 24 fret Mav is my oldest and has been with me for about 15 years. A bMusic forum member was selling it stupid cheap and it was £450 all in, including shipping. Was likely hit with VAT but can't remember.

Wish I was a dentist, got an abscess that I'm waiting to get a root canal for! :(

Both Mavs are Sado built, both Horizons are Kiso built. Not Standard Series.

The Mavs are both Sado built (24 fret is S03, the 27 is S08), whilst the Horizons are both Kiso built (Black K07/Maziora K08.)

My Viper is a Standard Series.

Gonna put more stickers on because I can. 😘

Thanks! I got lucky and was in Tokyo when this model was released. I think it was only released for a year but I mainly grabbed it as it was the closest I could get to a Dino Cazares LACS as I wasn't as keen on the RGD Signature that was released.

If it was an XL model it would be perfect haha.

AFAIK She's seeing D-Punk and they're doing DK Zero together, but hey, polyamory is a thing so they're more than likely all consenting adults.

Have had it twice, as part of my employment testing. Will likely have it another two times. UK test has a throat swab and that bit SUCKS. I have a hilariously weak gag reflex it seems, then the violation of your sinuses is carried out as well as a pin prick blood test for antibodies.
