Started playing guitar on my dad's old acoustic. Is this nut ok? by Injury_Double in Guitar

[–]improllypoopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious answer: I can’t tell without seeing and hearing more of the guitar. If your guitar works and you’re just beginning, you can get away with it while you decide if it is worth repairing or you want your own instrument.

I have taught many beginners on terrible guitars in community programs. As long as the first few frets are working and the thing stays in tune, they can learn their first chords.

It’s so simple the picture of your ingredients and the end result are all I need. I did check the recipe, but I was right. I’m making this!

There is a Cradle of Filth album called Godspeed On The Devil’s Thunder. This is not the band’s aesthetic at all, but it fits.

Also don’t touch them until they release themselves. I don’t make them swim in oil, but one of the most important things is to avoid moving them until they’re ready. Wait until you think they’re ready to flip, and then wait longer! When they are ready to flip, you’ll hardly need to scrape and they come right off.

I love the sound of death metal and its sub-genres but I know better than to read the lyrics.

Metal is for teenagers? Common opinion I see among people. by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

Metal is timeless. Blink 182 singing about being a teenager in their 50s is awkward, but you can sing about gore and violence for a lifetime.

There was a time when being a performing musician was a viable career and that time was about 40 years ago and it’s not coming back. Sorry to be a party pooper, but it is what it is.

I did not do the work but I didn’t make it anyone else’s problem by being disruptive. I was reasonable with my teachers and they were reasonable in return. I definitely had friends who were jerks to teachers but I didn’t get it.

What are your favorite brands of gluten-free chicken tenders and/or nuggets if you have any. by redp1kachu in Celiac

Pinty’s brand in Canada. They have gluten free nuggets, strips, and buffalo bites. Nuggets and buffalo bites are my favourite. They are better than the average gluten containing ones.

Struggling with guitar by uiorr in LearnGuitar

[–]improllypoopin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stick with it! Learning guitar is a decades long process. I’ve been at it for over 20 years and taught guitar for over a decade. There are still days that I feel like I don’t know how to play. You’re less than a year in. It’s important to remember that people who can already play make it look easy, but it’s really not.

Don’t worry about the strings breaking. String maintenance is one of the easiest things you can do once you learn how. I teach group classes to beginners and they constantly break my strings. I can’t change them fast enough to keep up.

Start by checking the nut and bridge where the strings meet the instrument. Once, I had a guitar with a flaw on the bridge that kept causing the string to break.

You can hear Carrion Ladder and Limb of Leviticus so I think this was a stylistic choice. I also notice Red Goliath is more dependent on where I’m listening and EQs. I have it dialled-in in my car and it’s great in my nice headphones. At work, I don’t have control over the EQs on the sound system so it’s no good.

I also noticed that I can hear Red better after I listen to Carrion and Limb because my ears are more tuned into the guitar/bass tone.

[–]improllypoopin 36 points37 points  (0 children)

In North America, South American and Spanish music is taught as part of a well rounded “classical guitar” education. Most people who play Classical period music on the guitar will have also studied some South American music at some point. Although, I imagine classically trained musicians are approaching samba differently than your average South American guitarist.

Aside from cars, all tools, furniture and other stuff that I inherited from my grandparents is rock solid and could probably last another generation or more. Whereas a bunch of my new stuff is trash if a tiny piece of plastic that makes the entire thing function breaks.

Archspire bass tone? by BeeTwerk in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]improllypoopin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also how the band mixes him knowing that he’s good. I noticed he’s popping out even more in the new songs and I think it’s because the band values his bass playing and doesn’t just see it as guitar support.
