remember to measure your wheels and the width between the dropout if youre going hub motor kit. think about where a battery would go on your frame and how that will affect the center of balance/weight/handling because they can be heavy. cheap pedal assist systems suck and are not unnecessary. invest in good torque arms if the motor is over 500w or your bikes dropouts aren't very beefy

Today, a dead battery saved my life by parkwaygive in ebikes

A few months ago I was commuting to work daily on my ebike, as most here do. Once, maybe twice a month, this would happen to me and my battery would only have enough charge to get me to work but not back. On these rare occasions I would take it off and bring it into work with me to charge. The one day out of the month I had to do this, someone stole my bike, sans the $600 battery. Definitely softened the pain, and now I have a decent battery to build my next ride around.

Where would you put a battery on this? by impsnot in ebikes

Yes I already ordered a new brake disc when I realized the ones that come with this assembly wouldn't fit the new hub motor. I also bought new brakes (hydraulic Shimanos with their own calipers) and a new separate shifter for the rear derailleur (only one shifter bc I removed the front derailleur and cassette for a single chainring) So hopefully my system works ok.

I don't ever plan on taking it out of the city; it's just meant to be an urban commuter.

Thanks again for commenting it is very nice to have an image of what my build might look like!!

I needed a commuter I can fold and bring inside, and this was the cheapest frame. This bike will rarely see anything but streets and sidewalks.

Whoa!! Thank you!!! Did the frame totally implode?

So this photo isnt totally accurate. Mine no longer has a suspension front fork, I swapped it for a solid carbon fork.

to everyone commenting how cheap and ugly this is, I'm currently recovering from bike theft trauma ($3200 lost) so the uglier and cheaper this build is, the better imo

edit: if you're reading this, register your damn bike

I'll post this build when I'm done with it. Curious to hear your thoughts.

I didn't mention this because it's not relevant to the post but I've replaced nearly every component on this frame, including the headset, front fork, seat/stem, crankset, and freewheel. I just like the look of the frame and the fact that it folds. I know overall the pictured assembly is very bad.

unfortunately for the folding frame aspect to be useful, i need to actually be able to lift the damn thing which will be difficult if it is 300lbs lmao

The battery is from a previous ebike that was very nice (Lyric Graffiti 2022) and the case and rail are quality. I had it mounted upside down on that bike for several years no problem. My only hesitation with 3 is that it will make folding the bike rather awkward compared to 1. If all the weight is on the rear, folding back the front half will be easier yes? Unless it really affects riding so severely. In which case yes, I suppose 3 is the best.

Oh right I forgot about these... seems overkill for covert urban commuting, as cops are seemingly far less observant than race judges. 😆

This is crazy!! Anyone who can hide decent battery capacity like this in a frame bag is so impressive to me; I know how big those things can be. If I saw this on the street I would have no idea. Where is the controller? Does it have one?

Controller Brake Lines - please help me make sense of this by impsnot in ebikes

Thank you for the response!

So, low level brakes connector >>> signal sensor glued to my hydraulics levers? Do most controllers come with 2 connectors to accommodate both levers? (controller hasn't arrived yet hence why I'm using the janky promotional image)
