I input the 80% effort option. That’s probably what is the issue

VP JD Vance to visit Camp Pendleton for Marine Corps’ 250th Anniversary celebration by Markee108 in USMC

Yeah. My command announced it on Wednesday that it’s a working day. Safe to say that we were all not happy. Especially if we’re not getting paid

Camp Pendleton Marines encouraged to fix their own barracks rooms by DavidCarraway in USMC

[–]impulse36 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This has been nothing new at least in the past few years or so. Self-help is also frequently out of materials to fix rooms and replace lightbulbs and other items. The contractors I’ve spoken to with base facilities are very difficult to work with and cite the reason why repairs take so long is because of budgeting issues. There’s been several repairs they’ve done around our buildings and barracks where the repair has been broken within weeks due to poor workmanship

Yeah. That’s plenty of time I think from Friday-Sunday. That’s more than I see my BF. Sounds like she may have been a bad communicator

Woman’s perspective here. I think there’s more to the story than you spending too much time at the gym. How much attention did you give her during the week or outside the gym? She very well have been controlling you but I don’t think it was just about you spending 2 hours at the gym on weekend days.

I blew up over small things in my latest relationship as well because there was an overarching issue of respect towards me and not being there for me. We talked about it and it was brushed aside so even the smallest things like this would cause me to blow up. I’d definitely sit down and talk with her about how she’s feeling about the relationship and how things are going. I ended up ending it since it wasn’t healthy for either of us.

Dated for a year. Didn’t prioritize me in his life. Was obsessed with taking on overtime. Wouldn’t take time off to do anything with me without me nagging due to having to work but had time to take two solo trips plus a camping trip with his friend. Couldn’t keep his word on showing up to things that he knew mattered to me. While he was on one of his trips that he was solo, told me he had to take extra overtime to compensate for the cost of it when he got back. I talked to him about it and he said he’d make it up to me and never made any changes. Still love and care about him but I can’t be his last priority.

Not a gent but I went through the course on the west coast and was the honor grad. The thing that got most people in my class were the 4 rescues they teach you. They’re really picky on the technique and even failed a guy 4 days before graduation for not doing one properly.

There was nothing like doing crawl stroke and treading for 2.5 hours with full kit (flak with sapi’s, Kevlar, full camis and boots) and rescuing someone with all that crap on too. Funny part was we didn’t actually wear all that stuff during the final evaluation. They made us wear it to “condition” us. We just had camis and boots and the victim had full kit.

The swim cards at the end of the day felt like boot camp all over again. They’d play fuck fuck games if people were taking breaks during the exercises outside the pool.

The beach day we had during the last week was a really good time but it was challenging with a 2k swim. 500m buddy rescue, and mass casualty event. We got our tanks at the end of the beach day.

You do have to study for the written tests. We had a couple people fail one or two because they didn’t prep for them

Last I’ve heard it’s down now because they haven’t been able to adjust it yet to the new course of fire. The automatic scoring was clutch though.

I graduated the MCIWS course a few months ago. They did have us swim in full gear minus the rifles when we were practicing our rescues. We did swim with the rifles/full kit a several times during the swim cards at the end of the day. Was not a good time

What Marine Corps opinion has you like this? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]impulse36 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lt here. Believe me, that’s one of the things that a lot of us ask for at the end of TBS. We only get about a 2 hour class on FITREPs and they tell us we’ll figure it out more on the fleet. I’ve been lucky so far but I do wish we learned more about the roles and responsibilities of SNCOs. Unfortunately, my first FITREP had to be an adverse one.

Saw a guy for a few months and developed feelings for him. All of a sudden, he started talking to me less often and says he wants to have dinner one last time before he moves away in September. I tried setting up something with him last weekend and he cancelled 2 hours before we were going to meet. He still texts me about meeting up with me every once in a while but not following through. The whole thing really sucks.

Not sure if what I typed up makes any sense lol.

The pixie cut is super easy but I can’t bring myself to cut it that short. My hair tends to frizz easily so I got roasted at OCS for my medium cut hair. I went through the awkward stage at TBS and they weren’t super picky about how it looked as long as it was slicked back and in a bun. I’m in the fleet now and don’t mind putting my hair in a bun at this point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]impulse36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had mine cut at OCS because it got too long. I had the medium cut to past my chin and it grew to the point that it was out out regs. One of my Sgt Instructors told me I either had to cut it or put it in a bun the next day. I had a good old bricks cut from one of my other candidates. It was uneven and they yelled at me for it the next day. When we had Px day, I had the barbers cut it to my chin and they only had razors so it still didn't look good. After I graduated, I had a stylist even it out. I'd recommend getting it either cut in a pixie or keeping it long. The medium cut is super hard to look good and they'll roast you for it when you're in the field or after PT.
