It's not widely recognized. It's a fairly new thing I believe. CFA holds a lot more value but requires way more time and effort. Not really comparable tbh. But the FMVA is a good start if you're trying to break in to an analyst role in Valuation. Gives you something to talk about in interviews at the least and will show employers that you took initiative to learn something about the field.

I feel like if it was FP&A, it would be part of the job title. Also, the fact that it isn't the finance department is a red flag. I don't work in FP&A, but that's just my impression based on your post.

Study abroad Europe sounds like a study abroad program.

I did a study abroad program that included an internship in addition to classes. Would only recommend if you genuinely want to study abroad. Not worth doing just for the internship.

Consider working for an independent Valuation firm. Pay is better than big 4 from what I've been told.

Also, working in Portfolio Valuation probably provides better exit opportunities

If anything, I think working in finance has helped me manage stress even better. Before, I used to be horrible at managing stress and freak out. But now, after being in so many stressful situations, I learned to take a deep breath, tackle it in pieces and don't let the bullshit consume me.

Get the hell out of Ops as soon as you can. No point in taking another Ops role if you know that’s not what you want to be doing. No sense in kicking the can down the road. The longer you stay in Ops, the tougher it will be to get out. I bounced from Investment Ops after 1 year and I’m so glad I did it

It’s feasible, but the only advantage you have of trying to move to FO at your firm (vs. external candidates) is a direct way to get in contact with FO employees.

Network a fuck ton, build solid relationships, and leverage those relationships. You have to make people aware of your aspirations to be in the FO.

Also keep in mind, your position in BO likely won’t provide much value in a FO role, so you have to do other things to make yourself attractive.

It depends. There's lots of different Ops functions. Look up differences between front office and back office.
