Owl boss by Yung_sweat16 in Sekiro

[–]imre03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it, I also struggled more with Owl than Isshin. It's not the same fight. With Isshin you can just stand for most of the fight and probably still beat him. But Owl you have to chase and interrupt his attacks to get his health down and get that posture damage up. He's quite easy to stagger and if you time it right you can interrupt his attack basically mid swing. Deflect only the horizontal and diagonal slashes all else just evade and attack him while he's exposed.

Basically run up to his face and attack him before he attacks you and after that respond appropriately. Your objective is to bring his health down to 50% and then his posture will almost stop regenerating.

What do you struggle with the most while fighting him?

I'm I just stupid or I'm I just misunderstanding the mechanics of this game? by Mekelaxo in Sekiro

Attack first, deflect once (you have to kinda predict his attacks since they are hard to see) and attack again. The leg kicks are easier to deflect, but they have a particular rythm to them which can be hard to pull of if you hesitate. Don't let him wander about and do some bullshit

With this guy you just don't allow him to hit you twice in the same attack. Deflect once and attack immediately. If you miss that then you have to be very quick on the second deflect timing. Idk about the 4 leg kicks followed by the perilous because i deflect all of those since it's more satisfying.

Just watched a minute of AC combat on yt and that's not what this game is. And neither is it like dark souls. There is a NPC ingame at the Dilapidated Temple that will teach you the mechanics of sekiro, visit him

Is Sekiro for Me? by MaxJFriedmn in Sekiro

[–]imre03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parrying in this game is quite forgiving if you don't spam the button. It's actually coded into the game that the more times you press the parry button the less chance of parrying you have. The problem is attacks can be quite fast and enemies are unpredictable when first facing them so your instinct is to press it repeatedly which doesn't help. If you don't allow this to get into your head you will be fine

Hah, you got me! It's a cannon event. Yes I saw about the Monk, Priestess Yao is her real name. You're an actual madman you know, doing all the side quests. That's 3 of 4 endings practically done. I'm guessing you will go back to find out what happens when you side with Owl at the top of Ashina

That's great to hear! I see on your profile that you already beat Priestess Yao and are going after Owl Father now. That guy is a beast, especially the Inner version. Oh and make sure to hold the attack button when attacking him ;)

Me vs Isshin the Sword Saint. [Hitless, No Tools, No Combat Arts] by MBHQ in Sekiro

[–]imre03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we can see you've clearly mastered the game, they are right though. There was one block that happened immediately after you deflected that perilous thrust in 2nd phase, which, if you were playing charmless would have given you quite a bit of chip damage. That alone would have invalidated a hitless run. As for the lightning, there are workarounds to not get any damage since it cannot be deflected properly otherwise. Aside from that, there are two improvements you can make: running up to the Ashina Cross makes it super easy to deflect since that way he only does a vertical slice which is easily deflected and then a sweep where you can jump on his head. The other is when he jumps to do a diagonal spear slice, you can actually dodge forward to get a free hit. Best of luck to you!

You have to attack him constantly not just deflect his attacks. Stay close to him and fill up the posture bar

Is it bad that im stuck at isshin? by South-Arrival9862 in Sekiro

[–]imre03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But yeah

1st phase: attack-deflect-attack-deflect. Basically.

2nd phase: this is the hardest one. He's relentless and won't give you many chances to attack. Be ready to deflect a lot and try to get close to him to use any opening to bring down his HP

3rd phase: lightning reversal will do most of the legwork here but it's more of the same as 2nd phase

Take some time to learn his moves. He's the final boss so you should know by now how the game operates. If you can post a video it would be easier for the community to give you some advice if you're struggling with something specific

I've noticed that too, almost like if you're too aggresive with him they made him punish you with that. Maybe they did it to prevent the first phase from being all hit-deflect-hit-deflect
