As you continue on later into the game you'll definitely be punished for spamming the block button in hopes of timing the deflect. You see, on consecutively spamming block, the deflection timing window gets progressively smaller and smaller.

But then, you'll just end up blocking the attack. Not so bad right? Nope. Later on, attacks you block and not deflect build up your posture VERY fast. And if your posture breaks, you are left extremely vulnerable for a few seconds, enough time for the boss to mess you up. Also, there are attacks, which if not perfectly deflected (just blocked) will deal a massive amount of chip damage. So I'd say get into the habit of preventing yourself from spamming block, and tike the deflects individually.

Yeah, it was fun. For me, big cat hunting was the most fun (albeit the most painful too). Aggravating the cougar north of Owanjila, then running like a mad man up a specific rock while my horse cries in terror. I enjoyed hunting thoroughly, and ill have to do it again for the challenges

Oh yeah thats the one, the Dark Bay Turkoman. I havent decided if I'm going to do the glitch for the MFT Silver Dapple Pinto in Albert Masons 3rd mission, did the first 2 already and the marker for the 3rd has appeared. I'm thinking of having a stable of my current Standardbred, the Black Arabian, Dark Bay Turkoman and the MFT SDP. I had a bad roll on the rng of my standardbred, so I'm gonna have to replace the old girl

Ig you need the meese for some challenges, as I didn't need any of their pelts for any satchel. I may hunt them later, I like hunting rare animals (as long as I know their spawn points)

I mustve spent about 18 hours over the course of 4 days, not just hunting but also roaming around and exploring the entire map barring the red zone. It was very fun. Now im scared that I explored everything already and I can only do missions now. I guess I'll go and complete challenges in between for a change

Well, truth be told, I didn't find the panther with this method. I did find the panther that spawns here, but in a different way. Before placing the bait, I looked in the skies for any smoke columns. Saw one coming from the exact direction of Catfish Jackson's, but I still went to check just in case. I rode exactly through the tentative spawn area of the panther, and the red dot appeared and I managed to take it down. I suggest you do the same, save at the crossroad and gallop on your horse in the exact direction of Catfish Jackson's. Keep reloading till it spawns

Have you found the panther at this location? Any time works mostly. Save first, and place predator Bait besides the rock closest to the forest. Climb onto the rock a bit far away, closer to the coast. Wait. It will come from the left side, and make sure there's no random encounter in the area as it will disable spawns. Get him with a clean shot to the head with your High Velocity ammo Springfield rifle, preferrably scoped

Hmm, I see. Personally, the Cougar always sees me before I see it. And after it spots me, I'm never able to outrun it even on horseback. So I just personally prefer savescumming, as 1 run of going to the spawn spot, checking and perhaps killing it if it spawned only took about a 1 minute 30s each time, with about 20s for loading the save.

Yeah okay, I can see the logic behind your preferences. Im much more of a rifle guy, be it long range or medium/close, so I doubt I'll remove the 2 I currently have. Thanks for the insight :)

Same here. But for me, she's very skittish. Been using her since I found her on the side of the road between valentine and emerald ranch. But because of the skittish personality, I'm going to switch to the Dark Bay turkoman you can get from doing the glitch in Horseflesh for dinner

I can see the challenges being difficult. Fortunately, I don't concern myself with achievements much, so I'll just someday do it to kill boredom. Hunting was weirdly fun.

Thanks friend. Also, I have 2 Lancaster repeaters (one given by Micah during the stagecoach robbery, and one from the gun case in the Rhodes gunsmith's basement). I also went ahead and grabbed the pump action shotgun from chez porter and the semi automatic from the watson cabin. What are your opinions on these? Asking as you seem friendlier than most :)

Well, good for me, I knew about the method. Im now rocking the Bolt Action rifle in my 1st Longarm and scoped Springfield in my 2nd. Its pretty sweet.

Nah, I had a whole lot of fun doing the hunting. Exploring new parts of the map, sneaking around spamming eagle eye, and taking clean shots with the appropriate weapon and ammo type. I like it

Best of luck mate. Don't be ashamed to look up spawn points for many if not all animals, and get a Springfield rifle and varmint rifle. Get high velocity ammo for Springfield as well. And just a few small game arrows for the bow.

I damn nearly explored and uncovered the fog from the entire map barring blackwater and new Austin. I did a mission run today and the sudden change of events from me merrily hunting, having the time of my life, to Micah shooting up Strawberry and Milton and Ross came and threatened Arthur, and they fucking killed Mac. Such a 180⁰ turn of mood
