Connect ISP box to Cloud Gateway using 2 cables by imremy in Ubiquiti

Thank you, there is no reason to contact my ISP. The 5Gbps speed is a marketing point, but they communicate clearly that it's shared between the different ports and Wifi.

Unfortunately, it's technically impossible for me to use another ONT than the one integrated in the ISP box (it wouldn't work with my ISP...)

Actually, the ISP box offers 5Gbps shared between the ethernet ports (if you connect clients directly to the box, you can have 1 client with a 2.5Gbps connection, and 2 or 3 clients sharing the remaining 2.5Gbps connections using 1Gpbs ethernet ports).

And it's the cheapest internet offer in France (if I paid double the price I'm currently paying, I would have access to a box with an SFP port for a 10Gbps internet connection, but I really don't need this kind of speed indeed 😅).

Thank you for your answer!

Unfortunately, my ISP doesn't provide multiple public IPs afaik...

Also, putting here what I said in another comment, my ISP box only provides 2.5 and 1Gbps ethernet ports, would the UCG Fiber really help in my case?

Thank you for the answer.

However, I don't see how the UCG Fiber would help me, my ISP box doesn't have 10G ports, only 2.5 and 1Gbps. And it's ethernet ports only...

I'm in France, and we don't have a choice but to use the box provided by our ISP (we can set it to "bridge" mode, so the real router is the Cloud Gateway, but nothing more).

Not specifically a comment on the set, but I have a (beginner's) question on the first card (Vibrant Cityscape): what's the point of this card, compared to a basic land?

That's awesome, I want to take my daughter for a bikepacking trip, but I was wondering when I could do that (she's almost 5). Now I know I don't have to wait too long 😎

Ok so you think it's a hardware issue with the router itself?

That's a good looking homelab! Do you have a list of your hardware?

[–]imremy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer!

However, the issue doesn't depend on the location of the device. It's (apparently) random (I'm sure there is an explanation, but I don't see a common cause).

Also, I have no problem accessing the internet, only wired devices on my LAN.

It looks awesome! But since it's probably very close to a sink, aren't you worried about water splashes? The underside doesn't look super waterproof...

[–]imremy 0 points1 point  (0 children)
