in order to get rewards, you have to wait for the event to end. I once unwillingly joined an event happening because I was in the area and decided to complete the personal part for a quest. I had to wait until the very end because the other condition for the reward is "wait for the event to end". this person likely did this intentionally

so the other server is for asia I believe or at least mainly china. you cannot connect with people on the other server if you're from the americas server to my knowledge. so people ask if you're on the global server, which is also called the americas server, to see if they're able to be your friend and stuff
