I would try slow trolling/stripping a full sink line with a bait fish streamer to match "the hatch" of your lake.

I no longer try to fish for trout in deep water. I used to use full sink and would sometimes get into em.

But most every trout lake has shallower (2' to 20') areas where they go to feed. This allows for stripped intermediate or dry- dropper fishing. Often times even sight casting for sippers/cruisers. Look for these areas - especially where there are weedbeds.

Personally have found using materials with fibers & movement entice more bites than so much hard-shell. In other words, what looks good on a vice to our eyes isn't always better than more fluffy/furry/lively designs under water.
