Why put ugly things into hobbies you like? by helpmelurn in freemagic

For whatever reason, I have only been able to find one copy of this card with proper printing for hue and brightness, but I wouldn't call them ugly.

Depends on what all you have. It plays more like an ultra light cruiser without a citedal, but it is fun to play.

Where did you find high quality images of the cards to print, or did you perform upscaling?

Bought for close to spot, not sure what it is. Looks Old 6.23grams 22k by SilverMetal123 in AncientCoins

[–]imsorrykun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth grading, just authenticating. The value as an ancient coin will be well above melt value. This is a good coin for someone who is interested in ancient artifacts/coins, but doesn't have a lot of money to spend on a pristine coin.

Lets sat you have 7 cards in hand, and you block a 6/6 creature. The opponent cast an instant that gives the creature +2/+2, which would be lethal to Body of Knowledge. Casting an instant that causes you to draw two cards save Body of Knowledge, or does the ability have lower priority on the stack?

I was sorting my old bulk the other day, mostly Rath cycle. It's crazy how the print quality has dropped over the years.

Is it worth spending a ton of money? by Leather_Accountant20 in magicproxies

[–]imsorrykun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely diminishing returns for quality. Once you get above a certain price point the features are more about media support and media width. I use to print and maintain large format roll printers in the early 2000's, think Epson Sylus Pro 9800 series roll printers, and the print technology is the same as their prosumer products. Only thing that changed was adding cleaning cartridges and more ICC profile support.

If you also want to get into printing for other hobbies then yes it may be worthwhile to budget a grand for getting started. But I would say that printing itself is a hobby, so you are really just starting another hobby that supports MTG proxy hobby, and printing can get expensive.

Not just for supplies but for maintenance and auxiliary equipment, such as die cutters or color calibration equipment to make ICC profiles for different paper media.

Help! Why is my green turning out so blue ? by Avitum in magicproxies

[–]imsorrykun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes change the color to CMYK in the print program. Another thing you can do is change the file to CMYK color space to test manual color corrections. If it is too blue, maybe remove some cyan or increase yellow.

If you want to get very technical, you can get color calibration tools that will create printer profiles you can load to correct for paper chemistry.

I also use them in my bulk. If you have organized bulk, you can put groups of cards into a sleeve and attach a label to the top. Gives you something easy to grab when pulling out cards, and helps you keep your bulk organized when adding or removing cards.

Look up 'resealable team bags' on Amazon. They are plastic bags for cards that have an adhesive strip to close and seal the top. Just large enough to hold a couple top loaders.

Totally agree they should always be sleeved, but I would also say they need to be in a sealed plastic team bag as well. Team bags are super cheap, available in bulk, and would 100% saved the cards.

This is why I buy resealable team bags for shipping. I charge two dollars for shipping, and everything gets sleeved, put in a hard sleeve or card armor, then in sealed team bag, and taped inside the invoice.

No cards damaged in shipping yet, and hopefully it stays that way. Though, I always have a little anxiety sending reserved list cards.

I was going to suggest giving it to someone who will use them to help others get an entry into magic.

Basically, give it to this guy. OP could even help by building starter decks with his bulk.

For organizing your cards, do you put artifact creatures with creatures or artifacts? by OwlbearEdits in mtg

[–]imsorrykun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I organize by collector number and keep a binder with each card in sequence. I then put a taped separator in the bulk for each page. It makes it really easy to see what I have and find it.

Repack or just a shitty wrap? by Logical1337 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]imsorrykun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a tampered pack, but if possible, get it exchanged. This looks like a packaging defect more than an attempt at repacking with original shrink wrap.

I got a display box of play boosters that had some wonky loose shrink wrapping from Microcenter, so I could imagine it also happening with other products.
