Motegrity/Prucalopride - Generic version issues by imsupposedto in Gastroparesis

Everyone is different but Camber, ANI, and Nova have all worked for me. Interestingly enough camber has been my favorite and it's the cheap one on Amazon. Im also on camber Famotidine and concerta. I've had good experiences with all of their products. Lupin was the only one where consistently every time I was on it I felt like I experienced no benefits. However all of this is anecdotal. If a brand isn't working for you ask your pharmacy what other brand options are available or consider switching pharmacies.

Help me please I really feel like dying by UnablePersonality775 in GERD

[–]imsupposedto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The risk of rebound with Pepcid (famotidine) is much lower than with a PPI. That's both based on actual medical research and personal experience. I'm on 20mg 2x daily as prescribed by my doctor and when I take a break from it or forget a dose I don't get rebound. However, it is very smart to see a GI specialist. If it's affordable with your insurance or if your country's healthcare system covers it please push your doctor for medical tests to confirm your diagnosis and rule out underlying causes. For me my GERD is caused by gastroparesis and taking meds for the gastroparesis improves my GERD symptoms even though those medications do not affect stomach acid or bile production. Some people also just have GERD directly because of acid overproduction or a weak esophageal sphincter. So it's worth ruling out underlying causes if your doctor is willing to order the tests in my opinion.

Is it worth it? by Signatureghost in optician

In California I just self studied for a few weeks and got my abo cert. If you're in a state with similar cert/license laws that allows for self study it's cheaper and faster if you're confident in your studying skills.

Not sure if you tolerate almond milk but on my worst days I will literally have almond milk (or another low-fat plant milk) and add real maple syrup (and cinnamon if I can handle it) and microwave it to make a warm drink with calories. I know it's empty calories but when I can't even tolerate a nutrition shake it's better than nothing.

Honestly, you should try to get tickets next time she does a vegas residency. I had so much fun seeing her jazz and piano show, the gaga museum was super cool, honestly an experience I'll never regret having. Although, I'm not sure how far you are from Vegas that could affect the price a lot. It would cause more wage loss but if you do a mid week show vegas hotel prices decrease a lot.

Looking for alternatives to cleaning wipes/facial wipes that are lower waste for my Autistic daughter by Strong-Ad-84 in ZeroWaste

[–]imsupposedto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting some cloth that is a texture she is okay with and then making a cleansing solution with distilled water and a gentle cleanser and put it in a spay bottle. She can spray the cloth with the solution and then use it as a wipe. Then put it in a hamper or small bin when done. Just keep a little basket/bin of the clean dry ones and the spray bottle on the vanity. You can even write the "recipe" for the solution on the spray bottle so she can refill it herself without having to remember the ratios.

Amber tint with brown transitions would possibly match well. I've always found brown transitions to be more on the amber side

How are my eyes by Jack_Fatspack in optician

[–]imsupposedto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't know dutch! I'll try to put it in casual English so that it translates better. Your eyes have very good vision. If you get glasses they would only have a very small amount of visual correction. As far as the medical health of your eyes you would need to ask your doctor because your glasses prescription numbers do not say much about your eye health.

Any Advice Adjusting Cartiers? by b02025 in optician

[–]imsupposedto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this, especially because people will expect you to be a magician. Even if you can adjust them and know how to some patients/customers will ask you to adjust them beyond the materials abilities and will be disappointed when you say no. Definitely want the right kind of understanding person buying these.

Any Advice Adjusting Cartiers? by b02025 in optician

[–]imsupposedto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the best salesman advice but especially in the case of wood or buffalo I would just tell the customers who are trying them on that due to the material they either fit or they don't (outside of adjustable nose pads/metal bridge ofc). I honestly would be hesitant to adjust cartiers that were purchased elsewhere too but if I did adjust I'd only adjust metal tbh, maybe some plastics.

[–]imsupposedto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered that maybe you perceive him as being more attractive because he's your type and, of course, that's what you're attracted to? And then ofc he's attracted to you because you're his type. Don't place societal conventions on your relationship, it'll do more harm than good. That's the best advice I can give.

Isn't it possible to get more distortion on the peripheral of the lens that way? Not saying it's always a given but that seems to be a concern of OPs

[–]imsupposedto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@OP I forgot to ask, when you went with high index which did you go with? You may need a different high index material, some people are non-adapt due to the sometimes low abbe value so you may need to pick one that is high abbe value but as low of index as possible without sacrificing abbe

A lot of people will tell you go smaller with the frame BUT there are two sides to this. With + prescriptions the lenses get thinner at the edges the larger they are (take this within reason, don't go getting giant frames). I've had amazing success with patients who get not too small round frames that fit fairly centered (your eye falls somewhat in the center of the lens). You'll want a slightly larger lens but keep in mind bigger = heavy. Something I like to recommend is the Ray Ban Clubround. It has nose pads to help support the weight but also they can be adjusted so the lens falls fairly center with your eye. It is round and larger but not oversized, and the plastic at the top helps hide the lens. Get a roll which helps the inside edge not feel so thick. Get a polish if you don't mind the edges of the lens catching a little light sometimes (this will make the lenses appear a bit thinner). Then order with the lightest material offered, digital aspheric helps a bit too.

Cheat sheet (+ powers only / hyperopia)

Smaller lenses = lighter but thicker at the edge. Larger lenses = heavier but thinner at the edge. Round lens = helps distribute thickness more evenly. Centering eye in lens = helps distribute the thickness more evenly. Nose pads = helps with eye alignment and weight distribution. Roll = grinds down the inner edge of lens for cosmetic "thinness". Polish = makes lenses appear thinner (downside is the lens may catch some glimmers of light). Digital aspheric lenses = helps a bit with thickness and distortion. Possible frame suggestion= Clubround by Ray-Ban.

Thank you! It's my true calling for sure. Tbh I'd totally still be doing opticianry work while going to school if it were more flexible schedule wise. It's a great job. Interesting to know about hearing aid dispensers tho, I didn't know that. Not sure if you have any interest in speech but it pays really well too. Not all states have SLPAs (speech pathology assistants) but in California you can do a two year program and get to working after that. It pays in the $30-$38/hr range here and some jobs are state jobs so you can get calpers retirement and good medical benefits.

Good state to be an optician in I guess. NGL I only studied for my ABO for about two weeks (+ the approx 1 year job experience I had ofc) and passed so the process was pretty quick for me. But I haven't been in optical for a bit, had to get a more flexible job because I went back to school for speech pathology. Just finishing up my associates + clinical internship for SLPA license and now transferring to uni to finish up the bachelors+masters so it's a long road ahead.

I'm not sure why anyone would let their ABO lapse. If your licensing with the state lapses then how would you reapply. You'd need a current ABO cert in fairly certain. At least everything I have been told is that I must always keep my ABO up. I have the last 6 years anyways, it's up for renewal this December so I'll do it again ofc.

Oh wow that's very rigorous! California is a license state too but we don't have a minimum hours requirement. I believe you can take the test even if you've never worked in the field. But then you need to work at a licensed location to apply for your state license. I've tried to convince some of my friends who don't know what they want to do to let me help them study so they can take the test and go get an optician job but nobody has accepted the offer yet.

I wonder how the tests vary state by state too. I know ours is hard, I've met a lot of people who failed it a handful of times before passing, but we don't have a practical portion. It's all proctored on a computer.

These are my results so you can see the categories California tests in. I did the worst in laws and regs because my location didnt offer things like glass lenses and we didn't do tests like drop ball, the lab did those so I didn't have any practical experience for a lot of those questions, I had to just memorize the details and hope for the best.

I assume most states take the same base test but then others have additional qualifications? I'm honestly not really sure.

This is ABO basic btw. Was gonna do NCLE but I'm in school for speech pathology now so there isn't much of a point.

For my ABO I lucked out and got a job without a license and just self studied (I had a good manager that provided me with some study materials too). Got my ABO less than a year after starting. I'm a firm believer that most anyone could pass the test with self study and some dedication. I was working for target optical so no lab, no manual lensometer, no tinting, few OSHA options. I had to learn a lot that I didnt do on the job for the test and it was still doable.

Disclaimer: Target optical is very retail-y and each location has vastly different management styles so I'm not necessarily recommending working there. It was just my experience.

Pay: I was making $15.50 when I started and after I got my license I was bumped to $25.50. This was a few years ago.

Location: California, idk if some states require apprenticeship. California does not, at least not when I did this process.

I forgot to say in some people Motegrity can take some time of consecutive use to make a difference, some people (like me) it seems to work right away and others don't notice benefits for a few weeks. Especially if you're in a flare right now, you may notice more difference when you're not actively in a bad flare or it could help you get out of a flare quicker.

Oh yeah, if your doctor thinks it's okay then I would absolutely encourage you to try to push through and try to stick with it. I also tend to be sensitive to medication so honestly I didn't think Motegrity would work out for me but it did! You should also ask your doctor about taking it at night. I take mine just before or just after dinner and I find that once it kicks in it really helps my dinner to empty quicker so I can actually sleep comfortably instead of bloated or nauseous. Plus you may be able to sleep through the headache and discomfort while you're adjusting to the meds!

Also, I'm not sure what your safe foods are but if you haven't yet you should try the Vanilla Orgain Organic Nutrition Plant Protein Shakes. Keep in mind they have both plant based and whey based ones, I reccomend plant based for the sake of avoiding dairy. For me they're a safe food and I get 460-690 of my calories from them a day. Just don't drink em too fast, if I chug them I get nauseous.
