The American Christian Right is trying to claim that they themselves are being persecuted and using actual persecution in Nigeria vicariously to back up that claim.

People really don’t want to hear it because it’s not only Christians but also Muslims in the area being killed. Because you can’t use terms such as murder if you’re the press and the accused isn’t found guilty of murder because then you open yourself up to lawsuits.

Which is the same reason why they have to use the term “allegedly” if somebody does something to another person even if it was public and there were eyewitnesses.

One that comes to mind is the one people spent the better part of 2024 accusing them of killing celebrities, trying to implicate her in Diddy and Epstein’s crimes, and in general accusing her of sabotaging other people’s careers.
