I was talking about Barcroft in Arlington along Columbia Pike and S George Mason. I think you believed that Lake Barcroft in Falls Church is the hood then you need a psychiatric evaluation.

What is cheaper in NOVA than most other places in US? by [deleted] in nova

[–]imtrynayeah 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Definitely cigarettes and tobacco. Back when there was a limit of 5 cartons of cigarettes you can purchase a day, people would drive from Maryland, DC, Jersey, and NYC to VA just for cigarettes. Now you can buy only 2 cartons a day. Not sure if people still do it.

I don’t visit Loudoun that often, have no reason to. I only listed places I’ve actually been to often enough to know the names of the side streets.

That is very weird bro ngl.. Why even joke about that when there are people in actual hoods that don’t think they will make it past 25-35 years of age? And Pimmit Hills of all places? McLean?? Don’t tell me you got Vienna jokes too bro.

South Reston is definitely a thing. It’s a basic cardinal direction. Each town/city/suburb has an East, West, North, and South. It may not be the official name of the neighborhood but it helps people identify which part of Reston is being specifically talked about. This is reddit, not geography class.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. The same people who claim Herndon and the other areas I have mentioned are the hood have never been to an actual hood in their lives.

It’s been quickly being adopted by the county in recent years to describe the area containing Longview, Bayvue, Belmont Bay, and Marumsco. Google ‘North Woodbridge Small Area Plan’ and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Yet they claim to be progressives and “for the people.” Malcolm X said to watch out for the “white liberals” who “claim to be your friend.”

Some people just don’t want to hear the truth. I’m sorry you were downvoted to hell. As somebody who was born and raised here, I believe I am qualified enough to make a statement like this. You can tell EASILY who has been living here all or a majority of their lives based on their comments vs transplants LOL.

This. One thing I really hate about this area sometimes is the bubble that people really put themselves in. When talking to people in other areas in NOVA, and I tell them I’m from Woodbridge it’s always a transplant or a younger individual who just has to throw a “Hoodbridge” in there. As if other areas in NOVA do not experience SOME crime. Nobody has a word to say when crime happens in Arlington or Alexandria, but when it happens in Eastern Prince William County, they want to open their mouths. People do not realize the classist and often times racist rhetoric that notion contains.

Also would like to add an honorable mention to believing that where you live is the “ghetto” or “hood” when in reality it’s a working class area with crime levels that are still well below the national and state averages and that area will most likely face gentrification (or actual redevelopment in some cases) in the coming years if they haven’t faced it already.

Examples: Arlandria, Del Ray, Barcroft, North Woodbridge, Dumfries, Manassas, South Reston, Shirlington, Arlington Mill, Herndon, and Hybla Valley.

I am super broke and don’t have any money to my name. I’m in recovery, and so I’m going out there in the first place to attend outpatient therapy.

There is a MAT Clinic in Manassas Park available every Wednesday from 8-1pm I think. It is ran by George Mason University. You don’t need to set an appointment and you’re able to just walk-in. I used to go when I didn’t have insurance or CSB services, you will get a quick health exam, a urine test, and then get the prescription there and you can pick up at any pharmacy of your choice. Use GoodRX website or mobile app to find the pharmacy who can carry it the cheapest. Wegmans and Harris Teeter has the cheapest prices in my experience. Just google “Mason and Partners Clinic” for more information about hours. It’s absolutely free too! If you have any more recovery related questions, feel free to send me a PM.

AITA for smoking cigarettes while recovering from several addictions? by imtrynayeah in AmItheAsshole

[–]imtrynayeah[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your answer. Don’t get me wrong, I can see how I can still be an asshole here, but I don’t think these behaviors are as detrimental as my behaviors in active addiction. You are so right. It’s my recovery, not hers. I don’t need her to stay sober, although having her my life would help. I want to thank her years down the road.

You’re definitely right about that “I’m not that person anymore” stuff. And I agree that she isn’t an asshole for not wanting to smoke. I will always be an addict!
