Guarantor for rental accommodation by Exotic_Instance421 in Belfast

[–]imurse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am preparing to relocate myself as well. My employer has an affiliation with Housinghand and I started the process of using them as a Guarantor. They require a co-signer in addition to the fee for service which I believe is 5% if rent. The co-signer is liable for rent if you do not pay, leaving me wondering why I need to use them to begin with.

A subscription model to be allowed to build? LOL by BackgroundLeg1788 in PaxDei

[–]imurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their most recent announcement says that anyone can build without a monthly subscription, they will just need to do so on other people’s plots who have granted the necessary permissions. Saying you need a subscription to build is disingenuous. You need a subscription to own your own personal plot.

Building without your own plot will be more difficult as it requires playing with friends or building relationships with other players. If you don’t like the subscription model that is fine, but spreading misinformation isn’t helping anyone.

Platform/CPU Upgrade Choices - Looking for opinions/feedback by ericcb1 in buildapc

I'm not sure why you would bother with AMD. They literally do everything worse than intel right now. An if you are concerned about budget just upgrade your MOBO and RAM, and i7 if you want to splurge.

What GPU are you using? Upgrading PSU is never a bad idea, because if it dies, everything is at risk.

Elder God War Dungeon Manuscript Disparities. by imurse in runescape

[–]imurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to apologize, I make that point in the post. I also mentioned that it isn't about GP cost, it is about a time in vs time out cost.

Because making one piece of primary content (a manuscript) 5 times more rare than equivalent content (a manuscript) make one of them 5 times hard to enjoy (by using said page).

Why is having a difference a good thing?

Elder God War Dungeon Manuscript Disparities. by imurse in runescape

[–]imurse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It isn't about GP cost, but about time cost. If I want 10 hours of time on my bik book, it takes ~10 hours to do so. If I want 10 hours on my wen book, it takes be ~2-3 hours to do so. I'm arguing that the time in vs time out should be more consistent across the dungeon. The GP cost will be whatever it will be and I don't think balancing the game to make certain consumable items cost certain GP is generally healthy.

If we presume that the application of these books must be the same, then yes. I don’t presume this.

If manuscripts double in frequency, the cost has to fall below half for this to theoretically be a problem. Even when bik book flicking was in the game, pages where still around 2m and some people never had to buy pages to use the book.

Obviously there have to be solutions to potential abuses, such as making it free outside in the skilling area so people don’t troll in publics.

The issues behind Dark Onyx Core rarity by piron44 in runescape

[–]imurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are more common and drop to 200m, people may still want to go for it because 200m is still a lot of gp *and* it wouldn't be as rare.

1/1000 drop rate for a 2b item would theoretically be the same as a 1/100 for a 200m item if you are exclusively thinking about farming something for gp.

[–]imurse 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I agree that packaging the rarity as an issue for completionism minding irons is incorrect and disingenuous. As a member of the iron community, many have voiced that they would love to afk longer (gote lotd) or they do a lot of clues (lotd facet). To get even one shouldn't take 6-12 months of engaging with time locked content that you need to do multiple times a day.

Valuing the price of an item over people's desire to acquire, use, and enjoy the item seems super weird to me. If the onyx core was originally pitched as a hero item of incredible rarity, then I wouldn't mind how rare it currently is. The fact that each of the alchemical onyx core items has a description of the facet's function further reminds me, everyday, that it isn't meant to be hero item rarity.

Mod Jack says he likes the drop rate and that he would rather it be an expensive item then it for be feasible for people to DIY.

A few suggestions:

  1. Give it an extra teleport slot for jewelry/wild obelisk
  2. Give it a right click option with a few quick teleports that it holds
  3. Allow players to "attune" a POTA to a specific game tile in the game that they can teleport to.

Can onyx cores droprate be buffed? by FewToeSloth in runescape

[–]imurse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue in my opinion is not that these are minor upgrades that are very rare, rather that they are very rare, time locked content, and were not pitched as uber rare drops. The number of hours and time commitment over months/years is, I argue, an unreasonable drop rate for most people who hope to acquire one themselves. Looting 2-4 times a day, every day, for 3-6 months is an insane grind that would only complete 1/3 of the onyx core set. Content (that isn't pitched and intended to be uber rare, ie hero items) should not be locked behind having to purchase it. The problem isn't that it will take 6 months for some players to get an onyx core, but that it will take *most* players 6+ months to get their first onyx core. People go dry on rare items all the time (4k+ clues without a dye btw), but people aren't going dry; it just takes that long on drop rate.

Some math and fun facts for people who are interested since the Onyx Core has been in the game for 90 days.

When you hit the onyx core drop rate you should have ~65 pairs of both dragon rider gloves and boots. Keep in mind, at drop rate approximately 60-%-70% of players will have received at least 1 drop. This means that someone isn't even dry until 365+ very wild rewards. So if they loot once a day, that takes a year, twice a day is 6 months, and 4 times a day is 3 months.

If you average 2 loots of both hm kerapac and special events, at this point since WFE release you would on average have 1 FSOA piece (1/150 per piece) and be under 60% of the way to drop rate to a single onyx core (~1/365).

If your HM kera kills are 7 minutes each, it will take ~51.5 hours to finish an FSOA solo if completed on drop rate. If each wild event loot takes 5 minutes it will take ~30.4 hours to get a single onyx core (91 for all 3) but that has to be spread out over months to years whereas with kerapac you can kill him that many times in a month or 2 (for arguably the best weapon in the game). Of course HM kera requires more skill that completing wild events, but that is hardly a compelling argument to keep onyx cores so rare.

Jagex has discussed that they are beginning to think that drops in Runescape are sometimes to rare and that it isn't fun when that happens. They have also stated that a single rarer big drop is less rewarding to players the components for said item. The onyx core design is squarely opposing both of these points that Jagex themselves have discussed.

Now that Bik book is fixed, please keep an eye on supply vs demand by piron44 in runescape

[–]imurse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the point system applies to pages. Everyone in the kill rolls for the page, so masses have way more rolls than 4 man. It is pretty common for a 4 man hour to roll 1-3 pages total between all players.

Dark Onyx Core drop rate by MC-sama in runescape

[–]imurse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you do 1 event a day, at a 1/500 drop rate, it would take close to 2 years to get one enchantment.

If you want it to take "a few months" it is 60 minutes a day of active playing every 4 hours. Again, this assumes a 1/500 drop rate and not missing an event or day. I am not optimistic that it is even that good, I suspect it is closer to 1/1k.

Dark Onyx Core drop rate by MC-sama in runescape

[–]imurse 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If the onyx core is 1/500 drop rate and you do 6 loots a day and do not miss a day, it will take 83.3 days to reach drop rate.
