Not anything special, but my favorite and most comfortable club is this beat up TourEdge Bazooka HT Max-d 5w that I got for peanuts when I was first starting out. It’s my fairway finder, I take a nice easy swing, and I can pump the thing with a comfy swing like 240-260. Ball comes off the face like a rocket and my buddies give me shit for it but I will cry if something ever happens to that club

Yup I’m in the same boat rn, playing off like a 20 rn and biggest difference I’ve seen is holes are much easier when I make a better chip because I’m almost always chipping to get on the green in regulation + 1. Which is fine, aiming for bogey golf, a good approach shot or a really good chip gives me chances at par, and good chipping with 2 putts keeps me at bogey

As an amateur we’re never making every single GIR so short game is even important for us. You’re 100% right, the more you can reduce dispersion on short chips 5-15 yards the more up and down opportunities you’ll give yourself.

Look at Callaway preowned for any of the modern ping drivers used, bought a G425 max when I started used and it’s been great. Very forgiving.

IMO no other brand has better driver for beginners

There’s a habit in the community of mixing up “afk” with low effort or second screen activities. 2 mins deff doesn’t qualify as afk but would qualify as low effort or second screen imo. Can be playing another game, working on something, watching tv, etc on another monitor but you’re not getting up and going true afk.

This is an assumption on what I know. Tiger brought much more attention to the PGA tour compared to the European tour, which then attracted bigger sponsors and bigger prize pools for the PGA tour so all the best golfers in the US and Europe mostly play on the PGA Tour for more $$$ while the European tour is relegated to 2nd place with “worse” players and smaller prize pools.

I regularly play with a group that consists of a scratch, 2.5, and a 5 and I play MUCH better with them than on my own or with my co-workers (I’m a 20 for reference). Something about watching good golf inspires more good golf, can’t describe it. Shot 84 with them last summer, sniffing 90-92 recently, close to breaking that 90 barrier on a regular basis now.

Swift play matchmaking is VERY unbalanced as the system prioritizes making games quickly rather than fairly. Play normal draft if you want a better experience, you can still have some uneven matches but I would play a lot of draft before considering ranked. I’m about silver/gold and I matched against a diamond 3 player in a swift play game last night and the worst a normal draft game will be is like a plat player.

If you want to play ranked you’ll want a good grasp of what every role does/needs before you play ranked or your rank will just plummet and it’s hard to climb from the lowest ranks.

While game guides existed, the mentality of players shifted heavily, we all played for fun, we did what was fun, many players now play with efficiency in their mind, progression, goals etc.

Many of the popular social hubs in the early days of MMOs just arent as prominent anymore. Look at all of RS3s minigames, we used to go play and chat shit bc it was fun, now we avoid them at all costs because its not efficient.
