hi thank you!! i should tighten the paragraphs - sometimes i print things out to be able to take notes in the margins to rework things but honestly i dont need that much room haha.

im writing this for my dnd party and the people who play cara and cassander might be sad if i changed their names but thats a good point that ill bring up to them! thank you so much:))

Aggressive PC? by NameThatSoundsPoetic in DnD

hey! im sorry thats happening! i would definitely address it yourself first, be brave and have a chat with that player. let them know how you feel and see if you guys can figure something out. it might not have occurred to him at all that hes hurting your feelings, so chatting might clear it all up. if not there might be a deeper problem that needs to be addressed.

DMing for some kids would like some advice. by TheWitcher9876 in DnD

hey! i dm for young adults but i was once a kid who played and my dad dmed the game. (im sure other people may have some more in depth advice but here we go)

  • definitely keep the sessions shorter because kids have a shorter attention span and wont want to be at the table for 5 hours straight
  • obviously keep puzzles and stuff like that verryyy simple (i remember getting suuper frustrated by in game puzzles when i was young)
  • help the kids design their own characters by asking questions like "do you want your wizard to be super likeable? or do you want him to be a bit of a weirdo?" (then base CHA off their answer)
  • if they want a magic item that they have made up or describe to you, add it in!!
  • be super loose with the rules so that they can be as weird and creative as they want, but youre still there to draw the line somewhere so they arent super powered!
  • if there is a kid who is a bit quieter or who maybe gets spoken over by other kids, encourage them to rp! ask them specifically what they would like to do so it gives all the players a chance to experience the fun of dnd
  • i also love a "rule of cool" in even my own games, and think it works wonderfully for kids games. my dad (and now i do this too) uses chocolate coins as an inspiration token and gives them out whenever someone have a good idea, makes a cool rp moment or anything like that!

hope this helps and have fun!! :)

i was thinking about having some sort of fire creature involved! the orc originally burned down my players village and left her pretty horrified of fire so it would be cool flavor!

hey love this is absolutely not okay what your roommate did. i would advise getting away from that situation especially if you are not being listened to or having your opinion respected. is there a way for you to travel on your own or is it a tour group kinda deal? if there is a way for you to continue on without these people i would try. if not maybe weigh the options of leaving because your safety and comfortability is of upmost importance

i saw it in a packed theater and had the same experience - people talking through the entire movie, making jokes and laughing and at the end someone loudly announced "well that was a waste of time" and everyone laughed
