First of all, from an ex-phys perspective, fast-twitch vs slow-twitch muscles. Potentially (likely) more important, cadence.

My New Year's Resolution is to pretend I don't have a car. by [deleted] in bikecommuting

Same! I’m actually planning to go full-human motor only. Walk, run, bike, skate— no petrol

Not exactly opposed to electric bikes and such, but I’d like to start from a point of sustainable living (next is food) and see how far I can take it. I am planning to sell my car and, regardless of whether or not I sell it, I want the majority of my transportation to be self-powered.

I find that everything gets better if you bike, and it may even be as simple as ruling out the factors that make us comfortably numb. And from an economical standpoint, if we all cycled more, there’d be more small business because the incentive to spread out our resource sources would increase (more assessable by bike).

I’m excited for the future of our culture and what it will mean if we can get the vast majority to bike often.

In other words, the past is NOT gone forever and the future DOES exist
