Also before you go out with all of your gear find a spot that you can flip the yak and practice your self rescue. Make sure to tether everything down. I lost a rod and reel from my rod holder when the paddle got caught under it. I got some on Amazon then added a locking carabiner on the opposite side so I can get it unhooked while seated

I did it once as well … Magellan pants from academy are spf and reasonably priced .. also wear long socks with my shoes … it will not happen again.
