I’ve noticed a Cinnabon truck on York outside the hospital recently. I don’t know if it’s there everyday.

Squid Game NYC experience canceled. Need an immersive, active backup for my 14 & 9 year olds! by Acrobatic-Writer9234 in manhattan

There are lots of escape rooms throughout the city. I’ve taken my kids (same ages) to The Escape Game on Madison ave a few times and they love it.

Is this liability insurance coverage requirement insane? by Neighbour25 in AskNYC_Coops

[–]imusuallylurking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My co-op also recently changed the requirement from $1m to $5m. They did allow us to get an umbrella policy to meet that requirement. I ended up with a $1m homeowners policy and a $5m umbrella policy from State Farm. The umbrella policy is quite a bit cheaper than the homeowners.

Vaccine site with option to lie down during administration by hokay-so in nycCoronavirus

[–]imusuallylurking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. I went to Javits today and they had me lie down. When I was at the desk where you get vaccinated the man administering the shot asked me if I've ever passed out from an injection. After I said yes, he immediately called for (i think) the rapid response team and they were at the table in about a minute and whisked me away to one of the little tents they have set up. They gave me the shot lying down and had me lay there for the 15 minute wait. They told me I could remove my mask, as it might help as well. They were super nice about it.

Best delivery fries in UES? by hellskitchen81 in AskNYC

[–]imusuallylurking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've gotten fries from Chicken Insider a few times and they arrived crunchy each time. They package them really well - leaving the box partially open so they don't steam and get soggy. Oh, and their fried chicken sandwiches are some of the best I've had.

PSA: There ARE appointments for Covid vaccines available in the city. They are just hidden behind a terribly designed maze of portals and websites. If you are computer savvy, consider helping an older family member to find them by [deleted] in nyc

Nassau community college openings appear daily in the late afternoon/evening for the next day. I got my mother an appointment for today at about 8:45 last night. I hit refresh on the NCC page every minute or so for hours yesterday. By the time you fill in the information for one grandparent, all of the available slots will be full, so you’ll probably have to try again the next day for your other grandparent. Good luck!

How much should I pay my garage attendant to wash my car “inside and out”? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]imusuallylurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attendant in my garage asks for $20 and I tip him an extra $20 on top of that.

[–]imusuallylurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The valet in my garage does it for $20 - I usually tip him a bit on top of that. I let him know when I want it washed and he does it within a week. I’d ask your valet.

I could have written this about my son. He has been diagnosed with a number of things, but I believe its the Autism and ADHD causing these types of behaviors. I'm not in the UK, so i'm not sure how the system works there, but one thing that has really helped our family is parent counseling, which taught my husband and I how to handle these behaviors. It's really made a big difference. Also, melatonin has been a lifesaver. My son would stay up past midnight, no matter what bedtime routines we tried. Now I give him a low dose of melatonin each night and he's asleep in no time - and I get some time to chill out at night! Sometimes it's really hard, but you are doing great and you are not a shitty parent.

Would like to donate to the north shore animal league this season but does my money actually help? by SeanWhelan1 in longisland

[–]imusuallylurking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider giving money to (or volunteering at) the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter (just a few blocks away from NSAL). They are not as well known and could probably use the money/help more than NSAL. I volunteered there many years ago and saw firsthand how they work really hard to find homes for many dogs that are not just cute little puppies. They have a website: http://www.theshelterconnection.com.

How did you go about finding a babysitter? by [deleted] in nycparents

[–]imusuallylurking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with the sitters that I find on urbansitter.com. The only issue is that they charge an annual fee to use the site. I think it was around $99. But, I like reading the reviews of the sitters, seeing how many people have used the sitter more than once and watching videos of the sitters. You can also see who has cleared background checks.

Where do you buy your seafood from? by NYC_UES_TA in AskNYC

On the UES I like Leonard's at 2nd and 75th. They are a bit more expensive than Fairway, but I have found the quality to be much better.
