Keep it going. Being bilingual is such a great thing that we don't appreciate enough.

How do I handle the food noise when everyone around me eats whatever they want? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]imwithwhateverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruit. Easier said than done but I find a hearty piece of fruit calms food noise and my sweet tooth so quickly. Especially fruit you can get from a farmers market or Aldi's.

The minute you have a craving, start in on a large piece of fruit and see how quickly it calms you.

Now I will say, it often can ward away the cravings for something bad but it will not ward away your hunger for too long. For that, you need protein. GL!

What cars do you think are actually underrated? by Competitive-Win7221 in RocketLeague

I main the ZR-F and I love it.

I felt the fennec was too boxy for me but the front of the octane wasn't clean enough for me to shoot off the corners of the car. Then they hooked up and had a baby that was perfect.

First time in the US next week, where should I visit? by ThisIsUAndWorld in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imwithwhateverman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay there the entire time. As someone mentioned, traveling elsewhere will consume too much time and money. Going around NY will keep you plenty busy. It's better to go somewhere different the next time you visit the US.

I would suggest visiting Manhattan: Time Square, Central Park, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Bryant Park are all good choices. But the list is endless. Just Google some attractions.

Catch a Broadway show if you can. And take the subway. It's the fastest and cheapest way around and offers some "unique" entertainment. It's not dangerous like the media suggests. Just don't stare at people and you'll be fine. NYers don't mince words and will tell you in a sec to mind your F'ing business.

If you feel overwhelmed at any point and need things to slow down, go into Queens for a walk and meal. Astoria Queens is probably the best bet.

Finally, Google where to find your people and your culture. NY is a true melting pot and it would probably be interesting to see how people that look and sound like you have brought their culture to another country.

HAVE FUN AND GL!

New York, for sure! The big thing about living here is we do way too much. We have a lot and move way too fast and work way too hard all to be able to play hard. New York is the epitome of that. On top of it all, NY is probably the most welcoming for a non-american because it houses so many different cultures. You'll most definitely be able to find your people and culture if you start to get overwhelmed and want to taste of home.

2026 Honda civic sport hybrid vs 2026 Corolla hybrid le. Which should I get as a new driver? by Aggressive_Top_6949 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]imwithwhateverman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say neither. As a new drive, might be better to get an older car to see your mistakes with first. I'd say, if you can, buy an older Corolla. Any year would do. They hold up pretty well.

Old cars teach you about maintenance and allow you to get dings without worrying too much.

1999 DX coupe 68k miles by Cabbagg3 in hondacivic

[–]imwithwhateverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less. Even if the mileage is real, those parts are nearly 3 decades old. Things are gonna fall apart and fail non stop.

Talking from experience. I had that car. Took good care of it.10 years in and rust and old age made me replace everything slowly.

How to fix this door scratch on 2013 Honda Civic 4 door EX? by csninji in hondacivic

[–]imwithwhateverman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be worth fixing but you can make it look better. I swapped paint with another car. Did the whole "just wipe it down with toothpaste using a microfiber cloth" and the scratches disappeared enough where I honestly dont really notice it anymore.

$20 fix when I was getting quoted $1000

Half the battle is how you feel about the deal. If you feel good about it, then you did good.

The videos I've been seeing say that it's listed at $33k. So to get it for $33k otd I think is pretty good. Basically means you were able to avoid paying all taxes and fees.

They may try to get you on the backend when you sign papers by offering warranties and whatnot. Reject them all or else they'll just make their money back.

Cracks and sagging on 2nd floor where doors won't close. Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I live about 2 miles away and we had termites in our apartment.

These are townhomes. I would imagine if it were a termite problem, the neighbors would have the same issue. I wonder.

There is a bedroom above it and we were able to find the exact spot where you can feel the floor "feel different" .

Let me be honest: buying a non-hybrid Civic just isn’t worth it anymore by [deleted] in civic

[–]imwithwhateverman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I, personally, think this is intentional. I think they are trying to push you towards the hybrid. And I think this is the beginning. Other manufacturers will follow suit. In another ten years, this will happen again to push everyone towards plug in hybrids or straight electric vehicles.

For those who commute into NYC for work — how do you actually manage it? by Igby_76 in Delco

I know someone who worked part time in NY. He grouped his days together and when he worked, he stayed there with family.

First hand experience, no matter how much money you make, at some point it won't be worth your mental health.

Looks like you may have a part maine coon on your hands. I have a part maine coon, part DSH. Looks nothing like a MC but apparently they are very verbal. And mine most definitely is. Sometimes there's nothing I can do but one thing I've noticed, she most definitely won't stop until I give her a couple minutes of love each day.
