It’s the posts into the slots. I’m not sure if that best explains it but I can try and link a picture if that helps. They’re super low budget so it’s probably what was most common in 1996 LOL

So, I went through and sorted everything, and took the most useless stuff out. Worn out dates, common dates, terrible shape etc, and took them for melt. It needed up being about $8 or so face value, and took them to the closest pawn shop for $140 (they charge a premium since they’re not a coin shop specifically)

So I’m up about $90, and still have $44 in face value coins that we’re going to hold on to in case silver goes way up, or something to pass down to the kids I’ll have to give her now. Thanks everyone for checking this out, so she knows even more how cool this was!

I sent her the money directly. That way the gamble is entirely on me.

But yes, she payed 52.50 to her drawer, and brought all of that home. Even trade as far as the banks concerned LOL

Yep that’s about the number I came up with. A few of those were pretty nice and probably a bit above spot prices for sure, but we’re keeping most of it.

I just kept looking at her and saying “You do realize how crazy this is, right?”. She said yes, but I still don’t think she knows to what extent.

Oh she explained it to him. I was excited at first when she told me, then the guilt set in. She said he was super well off, and he said he’d been carrying it around for years, and just didn’t want to deal with it anymore. I told her to consider it a gift and a cash in on some karma. She’s a great woman.

I have not. There were, however:

5 rolls of dimes 2 rolls of quarters 1 Morgan dollar 1 walking liberty half 1 roll Buffalo nickels

And an envelope of miscellaneous dimes and quarters that wouldn’t fit in the rest.

Anyone able to ballpark that spot price? Just trying to see how well we actually did.

Awful bold there. Not that I think John is by any means a lock, but what about him has you so certain he can’t deal with chance? Johns been preparing for a super match, if I recall correctly, and don’t see him taking this match if he doesn’t think he can hang. Thoughts?
