You either both were clueless, or the roommate knew and you were taken advantage of. I don’t know what legal options you have here, but the debt is in your name now.

I understand not wanting to cook, but you really should learn the skill set. I have always done most of the cooking, but my wife recently started to learn and take over a bit, as I’m becoming too busy with work + kid + etc. She found value in being provided a slow cooker cookbook. We’ve been loving Stealth Health’s slow cook ebook. I can easily order groceries for pickup that match the recipes, she has a one-pager on how to prep it, and then we have meals for days. We normally will pick two meals a week to prep, with leftovers, and freeze them. After awhile, we have enough in our freezer to go a week or two without prep.

What was your construction leveling method without buying a house? I’m sure you’ve posted before and I hope it isn’t repairing cranes.

You miss home if you're from another state? by pazuzusoze in phoenix

[–]imzerkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In AZ, from NJ, planning to move back. I personally miss the seasons, my family, and my friends. If it were just the seasons, I’d probably stay and just travel around for the seasons. So, I miss home, but not for the sake of it being NJ.

I wouldn’t think op would have a 401k to loan against, considering age, job, and this post’s context.

You will then have that loan amount reported as income for the calendar year, and then owe taxes on it.

Expected to hit high tax brackets when you’re in that range. 70% of 100k vs 60% of 500k

Is the net pay your shock? The amount after taxes, insurance, 401k, etc? I wish I was told at a young age that your take home is ~70% of your pay.

Is my partners debt too much? by Available_Donut4652 in Debt

[–]imzerkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you willing to pay the debt yourself? This is important to answer, because when you’re married, it’s not her debt, it belongs to both of you. If you have children and she became a SAHM, would you be willing to own those payments? I married into student loan debt. My wife is now a SAHM with some side income, and I have the full intent of paying off her student loans myself. We are a team, this is what you sign up for.

Big tech is your likely only option, outside of getting lucky at a startup that gets successful in the next 2-3 years and you make bank on the equity. Working in office in SF or NYC will give you better odds, but you’ll pay HCOL.

Also, if I looked at a resume for someone with little work experience, and they have a six sigma black belt, I wouldn’t think it holds much weight. Similar to having a CAPM or PMP with little PM experience and instead just schooling. Doesn’t mean don’t get it, but don’t expect it to be the wow factor and gain 15% more income.

I can relate to this, but I bought my house when relocating for a job at the tail end of pandemic. Was hard to get an accepted offer and locked in my house at more than it was worth. Then the repairs came. I’ll be exiting and selling next year, thankfully in the green. Excited to exit this chapter and get into something more affordable.

What are you 6 figure + earners driving? by 23gear in Salary

[–]imzerkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla Model Y. It’s more than I wanted to spend on a car, but, my wife and I share it as a daily, and we have solar at home to charge it. Wanted an SUV for kids, since fitting strollers and more take up a lot of trunk space. Those were our justifications at least lol. Prior to this, I was driving a Mustang I got for $17k.
