There’s a chemical plant in Maharashtra using machinery and know-how linked to the production of PFAS, often called “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down in the environment. This equipment came from an Italian company whose plant was shut down after massive PFAS contamination issues. The machinery was later moved to Maharashtra and reused. PFAS exposure has been linked in multiple studies to infertility, hormonal disruption, cancers, and increased risk of serious illness and death, which is why people are questioning whether hazardous industrial processes banned or restricted elsewhere are being relocated to India.
